Anyone from Australia?
I'm young, Canadian, and almost finished my Construction Engineering Technology Diploma.

I want to live in Australia (or even NZ???). It'd be cool to spend a year or two starting my career somewhere other than my home. I love the whole Australian image. Everyone is just dope as hell and I want to learn how to surf. I want to mountain bike the aussy terrain, and kick it with a kangaroo or even tasmanian devil. I want to bbq shrimp, possibly involving a barbeque. I'm attracted to australian women, maybe I can lock down a wife there too.

Would it be difficult for me to move there for a year or two? What would you estimate apartment rent for a 1000sqf apt??? Obviously it's significantly different for different areas... how about Sydney, or New Castle... hell even Perth, I just want to live in a beach city.

Are there any complications for living/working there for foreigners (other than visas/permits).

My cousin went to Sydney for 3 months and loved it. Like you say the lifestyle sounds great. That was about 6 years ago and he hasn't been back since.

sydney is suppose to be really expensive, personally I'd look into living in Melbourne.

I'll PM you a little later when I can get to a computer, I looked into this hard about 3 years ago and still wish I had packed up everything and left when I wanted to. The one problem is getting citizenship there (or whatever you need to live there)...I have a ton of info and emails saved from guys our age (I assume you're around the same age as me - 22) and guys a little older on just about everything...lifestyle, social life, hell even simple things like watching American sports over there via satelitte.

It would be amazing to do, I would love to truly do it within the next 5 years
