Avatar, Overrated much..

Or people just have their own opinion of not liking it? I watched it twice in theaters, went at midnight for the opening release in my hometown after

'ing and I didn't like it. Went again with my family and I fell asleep during it.

The visuals are cool and everything but outside of that I found none of the characters that like-able  and the story was severely unoriginal.

It's not the "in" thing.

I've expressed my dislike of the hype behind for both Avatar and Inception (especially this movie, I enjoyed it but didn't thought it was all that and a bag of chips)

. It's like for not join the bandwagon everyone chastizes you on some, "%#+ were you thinking type of deal?" because you weren't following the trend. smh

Not saying it is the greatest movie but if you really wanna push your home theater to the max with visuals and sound, this movie takes the cake.

You guys say that it's similar to Dances with Wolves as if its a bad thing.like Personally I loved it,when I saw the first previews I was asking myself %$@ is this.After I saw it I absolutely loved it.It was spectacular in IMAX.Cameron deserves credit for creating a whole new way of making movies. The whole planet,creatures and language were amazing..The storyline might have been seen before but that doesn't mean it was bad and the acting was far from terrible.Some of you just hate for the sake of hating.You see other people disliking or liking something and you immediately do the same.Each person is entitled to their own opinion but that doesn't men you should look down on others that don't agree with you.Definitely the best movie experience I've ever had.Can't wait for the sequels

Had this convo with a co worker the other day. My biggest gripes from a creative standpoint was actually the planet and its inhabitants. I didn't like how the animals were basically just reptile colorful versions of animals we have on earth. In this aspect I don't think the creativity was that impressive. The storyline was predictable and unoringinal which has already been touched on but one has to realize that this film is essentially just a visual graphics film and creating a exhilarating deep script wasn't the focus. This whole concept of a mythology for the planet will just be a variation of earth mythologies with "tree hugging" undertones. I have a movie about the ancient egyptians and their gods going to war that would deficate on Avatar visually and story wise.......... but unfortunately its not my time yet.
