There's no specific notation on file, but there's really only one explanation: at some point, it was either over the limit or deemed inappropriate.
Any way I can maybe get mine back?

I remember when I lost my avy during the Jrose years, I sent a PM to Dirty after he was axe'd, he never responded...but I got my avy back a few weeks later randomly

It's not a warning or a suspension, where a user must be notified in order to alter his or her behavior in order to continue posting further. If there's a problem with the image, we just shut off the image. It's that simple. It's your responsibility to learn and follow the rules. You didn't and your image was removed as a result.
I'd be more inclined to cut you a break if you weren't acting up in this very thread, but, such as it is, I see no reason to do you any favors.
