There's no such thing as bad publicity. This was probably a calculated move because no way anyone is this dumb. I don't know how big this guy is in the US, but I live in Europe and I've never heard of him. Well, now I have and the next time I hear "B.O.B." I just might think "that rings a bell", without knowing the context. Well played, sir B.O.B, well played.
Sadly, we live in an age where you just have to say something, ANYTHING to get any attention and it will be a good career move for you - see Donald Trump's presidential campaign for further proof. I've also been noticing more and more "news" stories with the most outrageous headlines, which are obviously just made as click bait.

I've heard some crazy conspiracies that's never come to pass. Almost 10 years ago the US, Mexico and Canada were supposed to combine into one nation and our new money was to be called the Amero. FEMA concentration camps in the US being built along with a railway to transport Americans there. Among other narratives the theorists pushed that they've abandoned in place of new scary theories to keep getting web traffic and profit off others fear. The real conspiracies of corruption and pocket lining are being buried beneath these fantastic stories everyone is running with. They are beating us with false conspiracy theories. While we argue over if the earth is flat those who are corrupt get richer.
