Alright alright ALRIGHT. I've been following the movement for years, just finally decided to make an account. I'm just happy to be here. I'm 25 years old, an finally left all my dope boy dreams in the dust. I'm guessing the next step is to find a career. I refuse to work a dead end as I see most of friends do. They make decent change and they're by far not the most depressing ppl I know. I'm just want to do better. I was actually thinking about learning all these trades, to have under my belt. Wouldn't look bad on a fresh resume. I'm just looking for input an output. Be nice.

i say barber and if you were really heavy in the streets you can use that to eventually open your own and make it very lucrative venture for yourself.

You could barber during the day and bartend at night. Couple things though. As a barber you NEED to build your own clientele. You won't be handed anything. I sit and wait for my barber for sometimes 45 minutes because I WILL NOT go to any of the new guys. You have to get out, hand out flyers, cards, do whatever you can to have a steady clientele base. If you don't you're looking at 8 hours of sitting in your chair playing with your phone making NO money....


Bartending is the same. You COULD get hired at a good bar, but most bars want you to be able to bring a crowd. ESPECIALLY if you're not a seasoned vet and they have to train you.

Bar owners aren't dummies. They can tell right away within a week or two if you're gonna work out.

If you do get into the business, be ready to be able to tune people out. Its not all fun and glamorous as they make it on tv. Its not new interesting stories all the time. Most of your business is going to come from regulars who tell you the SAME stuff EVERY TIME they see you. Theres a reason they're talking to you all the time, because they don't have others to talk to. You have to be able to hear these stories over and over and over, see the same drunks over and over and over, deal with the same BS over and over and over, because that is what WILL happen. Trust me, I've been a bartender for many years and practically grew up behind a bar. My dad was one for 30 years.

Thinking about bartending myself. My dad used to do it, so i guess i'll just follow in his footsteps. So i'd say go for it. As for barbering, i've got a friend whose about to graduate and get his barbering license, he's been cutting my hair for 3 years now.

What is CNA?

Get a bachelors, if your college classes are filled, you're in an easy major. Take courses which smaller class count, cuz these guys are the creme of the crop. Ya feel me?

What kind of clippers do you use?

Not that it matters, I seen dudes do cold fades with some Conair/Walmart clippers.

I got the Outliner 1 and 2, Wahl Detailer, Wahl Senior, Wahl Balding, Oster Fast Feed, and Andi's Master.

My sensei actually has a kit all made of the essentials I need. It's an Andis combo of clippers, trimmers, scissors ect. The basics. The trimmers are really husky, he told me to get sharp with those then when I grab the fancy little ones (I can't think of the name off top, lil red ones) I'll be good to go.

Yeah, the little red one's are the Wahl Detailers.
I honestly wouldn't wait, those or the Wahl Hero's!

Hiding behind that tough image on the other end of a computer screen. Get out of here dude. I guarantee you'd never say that **** in real life. Character.

Dude is out here telling us he gave up a life of crime and is trying to legitimize himself... only to be ridiculed by an egotistical prick. In case you all missed it, "a real education" isn't a guarantee for success these days. The job market is filled with college grads. Millions of people that have these "real educations" still find themselves working for minimum wage or just about it.
