Basketball-inspired wedding invitations.

So my boy of 15 years is finally getting hitched, and he wants a basketball-inspired wedding invitation. Call it tacky, but this guy loves basketball and so does his fiance. Anyway, he asked me to design/come up with ideas for a basketball themed/inspired wedding invitation...but i'm kinda stumped. It could be tied into anything related to the sport; terminology, movies, pop culture, famous quotes...and I could really use the help of the wittiest, most bball-conscious group of dudes I know!

The hardest part is the not make the invitation juvenile...I mean, this is in fact a invitation to a wedding and not an 11-year-old's birthday party.

He's a fan of the Heat (herb) so it'd be nice to use the Decision somewhere in it.

ANY ideas would be nice, please just throw them out there and have fun with. The funnier the better!

You'll need to work hard to make it subtle.

I would think about embossing the invitations - just white card with silver or gold font but emboss a pebbled finish to them - and the grooves or something.

That would feel nice but wouldn't be too ostentatious.

Something like these 2. I like the second one - I'm into that column of text thing at the moment and I like the idea of the texture of the embossing but then the bit where the names are would be smooth - as well as the grooves.

I'm already screen-printing towels to hand out during the ceremony for everyone to wave around. LOL.

i came in to say this was a corny idea on their part but this might actually work.

maybe make some ticket stub-like passes for each guest too? (make it look proper though)

Somebody already makes ticket invitations. Kind of a neat idea.

I like this idea for table settings or something too:
