do you guys watch the fiba 3 x 3? i have been watching some videos on youtube with teams from asia, europe, us, aus, etc
it's a bit interesting to watch & looks fun to play in that type of 3 x 3. i kinda wish we play like that out here in the US/Cali
although some of the players are pros, they look weak af & hella unathletic lol

It was kind of fun in the Olympics.
I have wondered if this is just like other subsets of sports where it’s the players who can’t make a regular team - but I’m suspicious it’s just that you need a certain skill set to play - a big centre wouldn’t be as useful as a combo guard and there isn’t the space for a shifty PG?
A lot of FIBA basketball is like that though - the raw athleticism may not be there but those guys are deceptively strong and athletic.

all the games i saw were one country vs another - same as the olympics, which is hella dope to me
in the games i saw, quicker, small guards lit up bigger posts and even athleticish wings. i think in general you might be right in that a combo guard/big wing might give you the best bang for your bucks in this environment, but the ones i have seen aren't that skilled (handles, can get to that spots/rim, etc), imo looks like a combo forward trying to play wing so a bit awkwarad. but that might just be the intentional aspect you brought up that i'm not used to watching yet

I watch them often, it's constantly going on. Just follow FIBA's Youtube channel. I will put it on sometimes just for background noise but most of the time I'm actually watching to get ideas for my teams.
I enjoy it.
The women's side was also fun to watch

i was excited when the big 3 signed dusan balut (sp?) a years back, he was one of the best 3x3 fiba guys at one time

i wonder how much it is mechanical vs psychological because a lot guys that are terrible (free throw) shooters in game will knock them down in practice/on their own/casual games

First thing I thought was, well yeah, she clearly hasn't been running, getting contact, etc. Conditioning and position figures in. It isn't mechanical or psychological to me, it's physiological.
"Fatigue makes cowards of us all."
That's why Steph does those insane workouts that make some other NBA players vomit. So you can still shoot when massively fatigued.
But run up and down the court playing a game, a few times. Chase a shooter around a few screens. Play post defense and get elbowed in the side of your ribs. Get a hand or a wrist to the head going for a rebound. Fall after getting fouled on a drive.
Now get up, with sweat dripping down your forehead. With a finger jammed. With a tinge of pain in your forearm from getting it slapped on a drive.
"There's no excuse to shoot less than 80%". Man ****
And that's INdoors. At the park you got wind, sun, gnats, faint lines, double rims or no nets, crooked rims, slanted courts

Exactly. Anybody can shoot/make pressureLESS shots in an empty gym. So to compare HER progress to anyone that actually plays in basketball GAMES is foolish.

i just tried asking chatgpt but nothing definite
ime & imo, girls shoot better than guys when open and unguarded but creating space and hitting with a defender still semi on them is a completely different story
i could be convinced otherwise though
