[h1]Before I start let me first say that I really didn't have any expectations for this game. I played the (early) Demo a few months ago and I thought the combat was pretty solid. The more I read up on it, the more I really wasn't too impressed. Keep in mind I haveanX360, Wii and PS3with the PS3 being the only systemunmodded. I have more games than I trulyhave time to play so finding a game with a

impression right off the bat (no pun intended) is rare. That said just 20 minutes into this game, everything haschanged. If you thought you were just going to "rent" this game... Think again.

So here is my setup, (yea yea I know its junkie but I live in a one bedroom apartment im a bachelor

) 42' Vizio / Batman will be playing on the X360 in full HD glory.

Upon booting up the game you immediatly note the mood is incredibly dark (as expected from a Batman title). There is no "cartoonish" moments instead you feel like your watching a Noir film. The automosphere is gritty dark and beautifully rendered. Think The Dark Knight during the epic "Come on HIT ME!" scene. Its incredible!

The game begins with you escorting a suspeciously submissive Joker to the Arkam Asylum. This part is particular wort noting because it introduces you to the incredibly detailed and visually stunning world surrounding you. The writing is BRILLIANT, the Joker menacingly makes you laugh with his remarks toward those who lead him through the Asylum. "You can do a full cavity search if you'd like. I'd perfer that - its way more personal". You'll hear inmates cheer his name as he is lead through, you'll see inmates taken to there cells desparetly trying to catch a glimpse of the Joker. You'll also see this big guy - who shares a few nasty words for the Dark Knight.

I won't spoil how but the Joker escapes (brutally not Mortal Kombat but def enough for you to get the point). This is where the game SERIOUSLY begins to shine. I'll return with more impressions (sorry for it being so short I am still playing the game). For now forgive my spelling errors im rushing to type this, enjoy this vid I cooked up.

9.0Presentation
This is what Batman's world feels like. It's dark and gritty. You'll feel Batman's frustration and the terror of hostages. In-game cutscenes and lip syncing could be better.
8.5Graphics
Batman's forearms are too big and hair tends to look plasticy, but the game looks great in motion. Batman's damage detail by the end of the game is a nice touch.
9.5Sound
Most of the voice acting is out of the world good. I could listen to the Joker and Riddler talk all day long. The score sets the mood as well. Excellent work.
9.5Gameplay
At its core, the fist fighting is simple but it is fun. Meanwhile, attacking from the shadows and using bat-gadgets is what being Batman is all about.
9.0Lasting Appeal
Beating the story and 240 riddles took me 12 hours. If you don't feel like Edward's clues, you'll be done faster. The challenge mode should keep you going if you dig the combat.

12 hours or so if you rush through it
yeah but 12 hours for a video game reviewer is like 15 to 18 hours for we regular folks. That's been my experience anyway.
