If I wasn't against tattling I would report the next mod I saw flaming somebody. Just to see if anything would happen, even though I know it wouldn't. They'd just flip it saying I was acting "soft" ironic, or hypocritical depending on how you think.

Oh come now. Lets not make this more than it really is. Its a website, a damn sneaker forum. Were not talking about the President of the U.S making unfair laws, or the Civil Rights movement. Aint nothing wrong with speaking your mind, but the mods made fair rules and people keep whining and complaining. Cleary there not changing the rules just because people dont like them. They have made rules people dont like and people have complained, but it hasnt chaged. So its a done deal stop whining about it.

Perhaps we don't have an infinite amount of time to fritter away entertaining the whining and griping of kids who want to curse, ogle breasts, use racial slurs, and insult people on a sneaker message board.

The rules are clearly displayed. When reinforcement/clarification seems necessary, as was the case here, it's provided.

No one HAS to deal with the caviling and "protesting" over every administrative action. If we did, we'd have zero time for any productive work on the site. ALL we'd do is bicker with bitter members who are still tight about having an account banned over 12 months ago for failing for follow clearly posted rules.... but I'm sure that in no way resembles his situation.

We have no way of knowing who is and who isn't 18. There are PLENTY of 22 year olds on here acting like they're 13, after all.

If there's a picture of a 17 year old and you say "she's cute" or something, nobody's going to ban you. It's all of the childish "i'd beat r. kelly style" "if there's grass on the field, play ball" stuff that has to stop. No one can honestly say that sort of conduct is necessary to enjoying NikeTalk.

As an added bonus, it'll reduce all the hackneyed "have a seat over there" jokes.

I don't get why you guys are so strict on rules and banning... who are we offending? I been in NT for a year and I never seen any porno or some nude pics in NT... I mean I got a swim suit calender in my room that shows more skin then what those pics the NTers show and my dad is the one who got me the calender :lol:

You're contradicting yourself here. First you say that they're common sense, then you say you don't see the sense in it. As you said, this topic is merely a clarification of our existing policy. It isn't really a "new" rule, it's to give you all a better understanding of how the rules will be enforced. Kids have been trying to test our limitations lately and people, for whatever reason, have failed to understand why certain "beast" posts have been locked and so on.

The policy we have has existed since we opened up shop. It's not going to "fail." People whined and cried for a few days when we definitively prohibited the use of racial slurs AND any variations thereof - but they got over it. The same thing will happen here and the board will be better off as a result.

Holden chose to leave this thread open rather than just lock it so that people would have the opportunity to ask questions and better understand the policy. So, we'll clear up whatever uncertainties people have as best we can, let all the kids who take NT too seriously get out their tantrums and teen rebellions against authority figures out of the way, and then in a few days time it'll be back to business as usual.

It depends on context. It's not like you're gonna get banned for posting a picture of a 17 year old celebrity if she's arrested for a hit and run, checks into a rehab clinic, or whatever.

Including underage kids in "beast" posts etc. is in poor taste, though. The purpose of those posts isn't to discuss those depicted as human beings, after all. If we allowed people to post underage kids in a "beast" post, what do you think would happen? Kids would just sit around with their hands folded? It makes following AND enforcing these rules easier for all involved if we just keep pictures of kids out of the "beast" posts altogether.

It's not for lack of effort. The reason you haven't seen any such pictures is because we delete them and ban the kids responsible.

Wherever the line is drawn, someone's always going to try to take it a step or two too far. The point here is just to make sure everyone understands the policy so that if someone DOES step across the line, we'll know it's by choice rather than by accident.

NikeTalk is, at its core, a sneaker message board. That's what it's designed for. NOTHING prohibited under this policy should in ANY was diminish your enjoyment of this board for its designed purpose.

It's not supposed to be the best all-purpose hangout for 13 year old kids in the world. We do want to run the best sneaker message board online, though. People of all ages and backgrounds visit NikeTalk from all over the world to learn about and discuss sneakers. We didn't set out to create [insert your name here]'s perfect message board. ANY change we make will have its supporters and its opponents. People complain no matter what we do. At the end of the day, though, we've decided that it is NOT, in any way, necessary to have people on NikeTalk leering at a 15 year old girl's breasts.

If that's what you're looking for, I'm sure if you try hard enough you can find websites out that that cater to your lust. NikeTalk doesn't have to be that site.
