I will admit that I don't know who those last four players are, but at the same time I consider myself a different generation of Laker fan. I can't run to Wikipedia, read up on those guys and spit out their stats and careers like I was with them in their playing days. But I respect my team's history and will look them up and keep that knowledge in mind. There's nothing to gain from showboating knowledge.
I'm the same, been that way since a youngin... EDIT: I'll never forget Sedale Threatt droppin 40, "Threatt for Three"Originally Posted by dfresh244

how old are you???? Alot of non-Laker fans even know who those players are... A basic NBA fan would know who Pig Miller is just by his nickname. I admit, not many people would know Tony Smith (wore 34 before Shaq did) but Teagle and Threatt had pretty decent careers as 6th men and part time starters

I'm 17. I don't claim to have complete knowledge of my team or of the NBA, but I am more than willing to listen and learn.

Nah, illmaticsoulchild isn't even a Lakers fan. He's just saying, if you don'tacknowledge the players who aren't so popular, you can't call yourself a true Lakers fan.
So to add on to what he said, if you only acknowledge Kobe and Gasol and Odom and Fisher and Bynum but you have no idea about Kareem Rush, Samaki Walker,Jumaine Jones, Chucky Atkins, or Brian Grant, then your fanhood is in question. That's all he's saying.
But like you said, you're willing to learn. Nothing wrong with that... as long as you're still willing to learn the next time we fail to make theplayoffs, which will come sometime in the next couple decades or so.

i find it funny that people are getting on this guy for liking the lakers and giants yet a bunch of you have favorite teams in different states as well smh
Nah, you know it's not even about that. It's about the fact that the Giants won, and now the Lakers are in the Finals. C'mon, thatdoesn't at least raise SOME question in your mind? I mean, yeah, I was afan of the Angels and the Lakers in '02, but the thing is, I was a fan of them10 years before, and I'm a fan of them both today. But N.Y. and L.A.? On completely different ends of the country? I'm not saying dude is fraudulent, just like that. I'm just saying that it's not that outlandish for questions to be raised about a guy claiming to be a fan of teams that are completelyopposite from each other and one just won a championship while the other is in the championship.![]()
