One brand is pretty good. they have about 7 different styles and have a variety pack. Taget has started to sell them but prior to that had found em at CVS/ Walgreens. price was outrageous though. now i think its 12 for 6-7 bucks. the thin ones are the best.

Yeah you should be careful about that.  The day she starts her period is day 1.  The day she ends her period is day 5.  The middle of her cycle is day 14.  Go two days in either direction, so days 12-16, and those are when she is most fertile.  Around day 5 you're probably okay, but definitely be careful about halfway through her cycle.
