My e-reader experience is limited to the demos at Target. And I enjoyed the basic Kindle the most. The Nook and Fire had really nice displays but have nothing on that e ink display the basic has.

the fire just like the nook color are not really e-readers though. No e-ink = tablet.
Nook simple touch (as well as its amazon counterpart) is the best value on the market as far as readers go.

If you plan on only/mostly reading books make sure you get an e-reader and not a tablet. I got the fire because it's versatile but after reading books on it for to long my eyes start to hurt.

I bought my girl a kindle fire.
That thing is BOMB.
She loves that thing.
She reads all her books (cheaper than buyin it on paperback to), watches netflix, and browses the web.
Needless to say, it was a great $250 spent
I bought her the case and screen protector to.

The basic Kindle if you're looking to do only reading on it. I've read using that in the sun for hours on end without any issues. It can easily be held in one hand too which is nice for laying down on your side.

Got the kindle with the keyboard as a gift, and I love it shoot finished out 3 books in 2 weeks. The most basic one is around 7-80 I believe also

Got my girl a kindle fire and threw a custom rom on it. Now it is 5x faster and is a full blown tablet. And for 2 bills? Not even a question
