What do you all think happened to the self proclaimed best rapper Wayne I mean his bars are **** now not to mention how trash Carter 4 and pretty much everything else after that is. What happened to that No Ceilings Wayne?

Lil Wayne is a joke, he ain't even near the "Best Rapper Alive"

Hahaha I agree but seriously like if you listen to Carter 2 and dedication 5 its sounds like 2 different rappers....

I think the drugs took homie down from his dominance. I never felt like he ever was the best rapper but he was the hottest at his peak. He had a good run at the top but I doubt he will ever get back to the Carter 2 Lil Wayne.. Carter 2 and the mixtapes and features around that time was his best spitting imo.. By the time Carter 3 dropped I began to spot the fall off and now its obvious to the masses..

got bored and hasn't been the same since rebirth and his vacation

IDK, I'd say there were a lot of factors.

1. People began to embrace him most around the D3 era which was already a dumbed down version of himself. The positive reinforcement probably led him to believe that people wanted the basic punchlines more than they wanted his more well rounded C2/D2 material.

2. Drugs

3. Oversaturation...Too many people wanted verses, obviously there will be a dip in quality. Also this coincided with him touring more and doing more show = less time to work on rap.

4. It's hard to keep one style for an elongated period. Influences change, inspirations change...the growth of an artist never stops.

Also I think it is hilarious that OP thinks he fell off after Carter 4, he fell off like 4-5 years before that. Not that you're necessarily wrong, but perspective is a funny thing.

It happened after "No Ceilings". That's when we started to see Wizzle change. "Dedication 5" was a good sign though and some of "I'm Not a Human Being 2" was nice. He'll be back, just wait on it.

he noticed after he dumbed his bars down ..the money started to really roll in.....duke can literally spit 123 abc and these kids\radio stations would love it

Another reason why there will never be another Jay-Z. "I've been in my wave like TWENTY years straight"

The MJ of the rap game.
I mean he damn sure wasn't popping in 93 and he "retired" for 2 years, so that line is a little confusing.

This. He started catering to the mainstream and started to make more money.

I went to the AMW tour this summer here in Jersey and I was surprised to see that it was more of a suburban crowd that was in attendance and they were going crazy for him. There was even an Amish guy rocking out there.

He has fallen off, but he has become a household name during this period of time. Why fix what isn't broken.

"Soon you gonna see you can't replace him...........a cheap imitation (Wayne) for these generations"

Best Wayne era was dedication 2/drought 3 era. He was already on the decline once no ceilings dropped

This. It would have been a completely different story if he didnt choose to over saturate the game by putting out a song a week back then. He really has rapped more than anyone ever, and its probably not even close.
