2 adages that most know to be true but can be kinda stark in contrast are 'presentation matters' yet 'can't always judge the book by the cover' so folk are aware that certain connotations & judgements are being always being made vis a vis their aesthetic/appearance/dress...

Yea I seriously doubt that. You are able to care about multiple things at once and I seriously doubt as much attention has been given to the way those parents dressed vs. the kids' performance. (Which would be tied to bonuses / job retention)
