They are playing the long game as we have seen with other fields that require a 4 year degree. Flood the market, then lower wages. These trades are about to become saturated

perhaps…i don’t see it tho, it’s a reason there are & have been shortages in much of the trades; the jobs are relatively laborious as well not necessarily status giving and that is something that in modern times has tended to matter…
i don’t know that any domain, save for those that really require the ‘soft skills’ that are somewhat less tangible, if safe from technology, trade workers may be slightly more insulated now but given how fast things are moving who knows what the timelines will be…as you noted jobs in IT were the wave & amongst the most stable career paths/projections

Trade jobs will be impacted soon, because Private equity are purchasing companies that offer said services specifically for their customer base. You see it with HVAC companies, Wheelchair Repair/production etc.

The average 17-20-25+ year old male is NOT trying to work a laborious job, in the sun or that’s physically taxing. Especially without being paid.
These young dudes don’t respect blue collar work. Well, in America at least. They all want be influencers or work in tech fields.
It’s a problem that America indirectly created for itself. Outsourcing a lot of work because they wanted cheap labor. That’s why Trump is trying to get rid of foreign labor. He’s not slick.
The blue collar mindset of American men damn near went extinct over the past 10-15 years.
They’re trying to resurrect it

really? that could spark more messaging & incentive to boost pay for some in the trades, if only temporarilyit’s definitely some of that but i think it’s also that blue collar work isn’t as highly regarded as it once was, people kinda respect it but most trade work confers none of status of jobs that may even pay less…
i don’t necessarily think folks/men today have a particular aversion for working hard/doing taxing physical work but the compensation & respect for the work by society at large, some of which come with some risk to health/life, isn’t always there
