Honestly, feel like I’m defending myself. As one that once as a child believed MLKs dream was possible, until I spent 8 years visiting the projects everyday. I carry a lot of what I picked up from that experience though I’m far from being a product of it.

Generally speaking there are NO fathers in the household so no corporeal punishment is being administered. We need fathers back in the home, and from there a good numbers of the problems in the black community will be fixed.

Spanking would never be completely off the table for me just because someone on the internet said so.
I don't believe corporal punishment has no benefits in a healthy family.
Actions have consequences, and if I knowingly engage in actions that will result in corporal punishment, then oh well.
I suppose my POV puts me in the "Well, I got whooped and turned out fine, so it's OK" logic/approach", and I'm Ok with that.

I'll also point out that I have used whoopings with my kids. It was effective on one (meaning it provided results) and it was not effective on the other (meaning it provided no change in behavior). It's ineffectiveness has pushed me away from it far more than online judgement.

i see how one would make that assumption but mothers/women do use physical punishment(s) as well…it may just be that it runs it’s course after a certain age or that the way women might tend to administer it might be ineffective…
i get the concern that some parents/people lean too much/are too (quite literally) heavy handed w/the doling out of physical punishment(s) or maybe that people are too emotional with it but the idea that it can’t be/isn’t a viable tool is probably unnecessarily alarmist

There were things they'd decide to get into (throwing rocks at cars, staying out past dark, going into strangers' houses, skipping school, etc.) that I would consider for a brief minute, until memories of the sound of my mother's belt slicing through the air on the way to my behind changed my mind.
Flashbacks of yesterday's whooping = better decision making today.
My face when tempted to get into *** whooping activities:
Peer pressure my ***.
