Black Culture Discussion Thread

Two of my coworkers , one filipino one mexican ,called a black woman who ran the orientation for this site a ****** (n word in spanish) thinking i didnt know what it meant but they looked right at me when they said it.

I kept my cool but i dont know how to play it. Im in the process of getting a new job and i know reporting it wont do anything since my fellow black coworker been reporting stuff and it went nowhere. Im tired of this ****.

Things are tough out here, and the jobless rates are rising faster than anyone predicted.

As far as "reporting" goes, HR is there to protect the company, not the employees.

This aint the time to be short-sighted. None of those folks are going to pay your bills if keeping it real goes wrong.

Seems to me they did it to get a reaction out of you, so why play into whatever they've got going on?

If I were you, I'd mind my business, keep my mouth shut, and focus on the new job.

Who cares what those goofballs say? It's not like they dared to say it like men.

TBH, they sound soft and weak. Just trying to start something. Probably hating.

Funny thing is I got an Amber Alert for a missing black girl a few weeks ago; the first one of these that I remembered seeing.

So let me make sure I understand the situation...

1. A white dude visits a white college in a white state.

2. A white dude shoots and kills him.

3. White people blame black people for it.

Is that where we are?

Normally, I'd agree, but HBCUs are on lockdown because white folks are making terrorist threats.

Not exactly the type of thing people can afford to take lightly.

"Empathy" for racists? Say it ain't so.

Ain't this the same fella that stood on business with Kanye?

I listened to the whole episode, so I'm not completely sure which part of that convo was clipped.

His overall messaging what it's crazy to ask Black people to take the moral high-road by NOT celebrating his death when "those people" do everything in their power to destroy us.

So I'm just wondering what he said in the clip that made you react like that?

"Empathy is not something you should turn on or off".

Yea you definitely cherry picked that line. You ignored everything he said before and everything he said after. It's fine though, not that invested to go back and forth about it.

"Cherry-picked".

That's certainly one way of looking at it.

Purely out of curiosity/no judgement - do you have empathy for Charlie Kirk?
