Black Culture Discussion Thread

Saw that earlier this week.

SF in another country such as japan has no jurisdiction outside of the base. In normal conditions SF should have been accompanied by japan police when doing those curfew checks and the last i hear was that they couldnt patrol without them but decided to do it anyway . Thats a complete and utter **** up

"HCBUs are segregation"
"White people have every right to wear braids cause wear blonde wigs"
"There's only light or dark skins, no brown skins"
"Paternity tests should be mandatory"
"Corporal punishment"
"We don't respect people if they didn't have a rough upbringing"

None of these, in my opinion. All those convos have been had or dismissed, and none of them are actually truly uncomfortable.

The real day-to-day convo black people don't want to have, but has been mentioned by rappers and black leaders over the years is

Anyway, haha, yeah, White people should totally be able to wear braids since some black folk wear wigs, amirite! :emoji_sweat_smile:

All these racist white people over the years took **** from everywhere, for centuries. Some are doing it right this very moment, in broad daylight, in full view of everyone - taking things from our people, exploiting them, and for the most part black people as a whole just go to work every day and don't do anything to get retribution, even if it means spilled blood.

People with generational wealth built off the backs of our people and we just drive by their mansions. There are records. There's information showing everything that's happened. The money. The land stolen. The resources taken.

Sometimes I really do wonder if we got organized and did something, that these fools would respect that and stop doing the ridiculous **** they do in perpetuating this system because there would be some fear in their hearts.

But anyway, that's the convo that black people actually don't want to have. And a lot of people's christianity won't let them have that conversation, and surely that aint by accident

Anyway, haha, yeah, White people should totally be able to wear braids since some black folk wear wigs, amirite! :emoji_sweat_smile:
Maybe I spend too much time on the internet but we do talk about theses all the time….for a long time.

You've also lived twice as long as them. The opportunity for those conversations to take place has been wider for you.

Cant wait for the 1st person to have that convo in a black space...should be enlightening.

Twice as long as who?

Twice as long as the kids in the video. You really bought out the classics but maq25060 maq25060 has a point. Besides that one militant uncle, they probably haven't had these convos or just dismiss them right off the bat.

Buddy who spoke on MANDATORY paternity tests was correct… and the last dude who talked about over emphasizing the “struggle”…. I liked what them two cats had to say.

The whole emphasis on everyone black family being broken or just enduring endlessssssss struggling is so off base.

We value the struggle. We indirectly speak as if our Black Cards are strengthened if we go through THAT struggle. It also doesn't help that much of the music that gets promoted/greenlit highlights that same struggle so it tells us to value it. We need to cut that out.

Last night while piddling through the record collection (my older brother left me crate upon crate of heat) I played "it takes a nation of millions to hold us back" both sides. I realize why hip hop has taken the direction it has. :(
