How many of you go to a black college or considered attending one, and what was your reason?

go to college for your advancement, if a black college is what provides for that then go there. if not, dont go

i did, but i didn't have the grades, and the out of state tuition was too much

I was about to, until I went to orientation. Wasn't impressed at all with the school.

I go to FAMU. I didn't know any better at the time 3 years ago when I chose to come here.

Norfolk State University Junior here
I came here because I came down to VA from NYC pretty much against my will and ended up living in Hampton by my bro
Ironically enough I already had a friend going to NSU and it was the most cost effective for me
At fist I just wanted to go for a semester or two and then transfer but that's just not feasible for me as my grades have been sub par and money is stillvery much an issue
My sis is tight at me cuz she's a Tar Heel and she felt like she started a legacy at UNC for me to follow
But at the same time I felt like I had to go my own route
Its been aight - If u want to party there are no shortages and you will have fun (although the BS has ratcheted up recently)
But remember not all HBCUs (schools in general) are the same
Can't wait to get back on campus tomorrow

didn't consider it one bit.
I went to predominantly black schools before college, and racially diversified schools, and I enjoyed those schools much more than the predominantly blackschools i went to.

I was going to go to Howard....

But I didnt because....

It's mad expensive..

And you always hear about problems with the administration.....

But it was some sexy female's when I visited and everybody seemed cool that I talked to....

I go to Howard University and I went because they offered what I wanted to study with more convenience

I had a friend that went to SCSU. She liked it for the most part. BUT from what I here going to some black schools is almost high school all over again.
My professor that went to the all male black college in Atlanta (cant think of the name right now) said that its good cause they are very encouraging and theypush
their students, its almost like a family structure.

BUT

I go to a white college if there ever is one. Its a learning experience tho. Living in Detroit my whole life then going to Connecticut College was eye opening.
It really depends on what you want out of the experience tho

Im planning on going to Clark-ATL after a year at a community college. Reason is because i love it down here & it's business major is top notch forAfrican Americans. Also, the girls in the local community of ATL

aint nothing top notch about clark atlanta.......but i chose my school because i needed a change but i do regret coming here.....i should've went to ECU orUNCC

....only why i regret it is because i'm too close to home and the distractions it caused for a year or 2

I go to Alabama a&m its an HBCU i chose it just cause it was close to where my family lives. I think like maybe 20 white guys goes now.

I went to Maryland-Eastern Shore for Undergrad and Bowie State for Grad. Both are HBCUs. (UMES was 1886, BSU was 1865) While I had a subpar experience withEastern Shore, I loved Bowie State. I work with my colleagues that went to Temple, Pitt, Rutgers, UVA, and Georgetown. In the boardroom meetings, where I wentdoesnt matter, its what I learned that counts.

Corporations are looking for HBCU Graduates to work for their company. HBCU graduates bring diverstiy and knowledge. Most HBCUs produce more graduates inScience, Technology, and Education and majority Fortune 500 Companies hire HBCU graduates than the PWI Graduates.

Took a trip to texas southern but it just wasnt for me. enrolled close to home at the U of Arizona and am fully satisfied

Well everyone I knew personally who furthered their education did so via an HBCU, so I kind of felt the same was expected of me.
