Not to intrude on a question that wasn't directed at me. You know he isn't going to do anything, he's part of the people who claim to"help" the black Americans by keeping them pinned in failing public schools with terrible teachers.

Want proof of this? Just look what he did when he took away the scholarships to the inner city B-More DC kids. Those kids were doing really well in the privateschool an he decided NOT to fulfill their scholarships.

Coincidentally, those kids were also going to the private school his daughters go to.

- But see, that's the thing; "higher ups" as you refer to them HAVE been helping. In my case, specifically, I grew up participating in a programdesigned to help get minorities in medical/scientific career fields. We traveled the country for meetings, gave presentations country-wide, had hands onparticipation in laboratory research. This was 7-12 years ago. Now, these individuals are in the later years of graduate school or professionals

; most succeeded.

- That's ALL you can do.

- This was a Philadelphia established program targeted to help minorities across the United States and it DID just that. These minorities came from variousbackgrounds, but were all academically gifted, on a tough scale; most came from at least upper-middle class bacgrounds, many upper-class, legitimately. Themajority cared little about entertainers/entertainment and the mainstream media's image of wealth/"arrival". It's a farce for the mostpart.

Hopefully, it doesn't get out of control and it stays on topic.

It can do without some of the stupid pictures being posted, though.

Fede, i really do agree with you.

Democrats, hostage to the theatrics of identity politics, see African-Americans as piteous souls incapable of achieving without handouts. To condition a peopleto handouts is to dis empower them. As such, a black America that continues to vote virtually for a man for Democratic presidential candidates is a blackamerica without political representation. Moreover, the predictability of the black vote has long left the Democratic Party with no incentives to actually doanything to attract or deserve t.

This thread is sad. The Prodigy letter is hilarious - yup, the evil white man ruined your life. This whole black upper class thing is stupid. If you want to beblack upper class hustle in hs, go to a descent university, murk your mcats, and get into a good medical school. I've seen many friends do just that -their mom made $15k a year and now they are making 6 figs as a surgeon. Nobody is holding you back. The only people that continue to talk about conspiraciesare those that effed up at some point in their life. The main reason blacks struggle as a whole in '09 is the absent black father - period. The book in theop, and the articles surrounding it are a joke. Who really cares about some boring black people that sit around obsessing with social climbing with otherboring white people? I know many wealthy families, of a variety of backgrounds and they could give a crap less about what some other pompous over educatedcircle thinks of them.

I agree with some of the points you made, especially the point about nobody holding anyone back.

I really don't know why the Prodigy letter was posted or some of the pictures.

Like I said before, the thread can do without them.

- Many/Most the respondents have failed to acknowledge the prevalence of black that currently fulfill this status. Go attended a minority (not solely blacks)scientific conference or legal conference.

- The black upper class is larger than this thread indicates, by far....

I'm not sure what role Obama would play in this. He may or may not help improve on things. I can only hope he does take some action in regards to thestruggles within those type of communities.

Obama is a puppet, he is controlled by powerful people, as evident by the Wall Street bailouts. Career politicians are losers who yearn to get into the privatesector to make some real money. Basically ya'll gotta stop worrying about this, go get educated and go make some real money - that's ALL it boils downto.

- If y'all are lookin' specifically at the media (tv, radio, paper) for indications of minority success, don't expect much beyond, entertainment

Dude ...

It's not about the economic standpoint though .

We're just not held back financially , we're held back mentally & socially also .

The dumbest thing in America right now is the logic that the schools with higher test scores receive more help ,

while the schools with lower test scores receive less .

There is no help in society for the progression in the inner-city .

What about the people that can't afford to go to college ?

Scholarships aren't enough money & financial aid just helps you for the time being .

It's about more than economics fam , & Blacks making money .

It's more than that .

And chill, lets not be foolish, there's no way poverty will be eliminated in america or even improved. this is a capitalist society, as much as it hurts tosay, there MUST be poor people for it to function.
