Fact. How many wealthy black people can you name
You just gave me a reason to use the ignore post button. Thanks.
Griz, how do u feel on this subject? The way wealthy blacks treat poor blacks?
I believe it is worse than any other culture or race. We fight amongst ourselves. I don't believe in Uncle Toms or sellouts. What I do believe in though is the fact that their are people out there that forget what our purposes are in life. Previously we looked out for each other. We would fight for entry and when we got in, we would hold the door open for others. Now we are so worried about self that we forget that others need opportunities as well. But its like crabs in a bucket. We hate to see someone accomplish success ahead of us.

This point was made before but I will speak on it again. No matter how much money you have, white people and other races will think you are still below them.
Come on griz, although i agree racism does exist, i honestly believe, MOST, not all, but MOST people don't care what race you are, and rather your character. maybe i'm very naive, which i doubt, but that's how i feel.

griz, we should also issue the notion of acting white or selling out in the black community. Many people-not all, but many people, are believe in the idea that if you educate yourself and attempt to better yourself you're selling your blackness out. its such a shame
tired.gif
i have a black friend, who in his algebra 2 class, is constantly made fun of by his peers because he get's A. they're always like, "harry, you think you're smart or something?" Disgusting.
tired.gif
I am not sure what "Acting Black" is. I'm not sure where it came from. My granny has always said "No matter how much money you may have, you should still perform well in school, have manors, dress well, etc." For some idiotic reason we have been brainwashed to believe that low income, bad grades, broken English, etc is synonymous with being black. Its not. But I will say this, no matter what path one chooses in life, he/she should not be penalized for attempting to fit into a group that they choose.
PREACH. [denzel] my man, my man [denzel]. in all seriousness though, gritz will i see you at jack n jill and the boule conferences in 15-20years?

Who said white's are "counterparts", or set the bar for success first of all? As far as wealthy "high class" goes, MiddleEasterners and Saudi are in a class that Caucasians could never reach. I'm talking Billions richer. I hate brainwashed people with this frame of mind...youthink a three piece suit, cocktail parties and a German import makes you high class?
Your statement is GENERALIZING whites as the symbol of success..

Not to make this thread racially controversial, but Whites can "front" their way to the top...and been doing it for centuries. Whites are minoritiesbut they're social chameleons for survival purposes. That's why even on the smallest scale like riding a NYC subway train a financialy troubled middleaged white women and carry herself like she being "coveted" by every black, hispanic and asian on the car...THEY ARE BREED TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES AS"COVETED" FOR OR WORTH SOMETHING (It's a defense mechanism)....

Another example "gentrification", they purchase property in "low income" areas and"PRETEND" it's a new "up-and-coming" hot spot....so yo call your friend "in high places" and get the property value up...

Some of you really need to unlearn, what you think you know.....Like I said on the 3rd of 4th page, an African American can never be "uppity", itjust effects a non-black psychi to see them not "humble" or in need...America's success has always been measured by how far you live away from"the ghetto" or "blacks", so when you see a wealthy African American he looks out of place.

I agree, and thats what it comes down to. Keep in mind fams, a lot of the posters in this thread were brought up to feel like a victim, so youcan't really blame them. And you were dead on, when you talked about wealthy blacks not having to be humble and thats why it boils down to.

People are what they are and it's shaped from childhood. If you're black, and went school to school with all white kids, you might have a caucasiantone to your voice. If your parents raised you uppity, chances are your gonna be uppity if you don't break yourself of that mindset. These things apply toboth white and black. The problem is, people who shape their attitude based upon how much money they have. This is when people start to be called uppity andsnobbish. A lot of humbleness is missing in our society and that's why it's run a muck with aholes. I one day aim to have my money classified as upperclass, but I always want my attitude to be classified by my person, and a lot of times this gets turned around in society. Unfortunately, and this must besaid, it's perpetuated by white society. Also unfortunately, a lot of blacks who do reach upper class status fall into the trap of trying to "fit inwith the jones", when really, they don't want you, cause people don't really respect new money, especially blacks with new money. I guess a thingto remember is you should build up your money, don't let your money build you. I'm black if that matters.

so whites are racist? isn't racist to generalize a whole group of people?

this was the same attitude during the election on NT, whites will never let ablack man be president, but they proved u wrong. it appears NT's views on whites is very wrong and troubling. especially from a group that hates to begeneralized themselves.

just because they're not Bill Gates wealthy doesn't mean they're not wealthy---$%!.

I do agree as a people, we don't have the wealth that we should. For instance, we should have beauty care products hemmed up
smh.gif

And back in the day, if we was for real, the agricultural sector shoulda been ours as well. I also think we should have the entertainment (sports and music)hemmed up. Now we I say hemmed up, I don't mean the people sweatin', I mean the people that's writing checks for the people's that'ssweatin'.

and they also RARELY tell a story accurately. Anyways, link to the list? I'm curious.....

and I hope you not a black man talkin' like this

^lolollololol.
So my t, why wouldn't whites accept a black person who is also in their same class? Unless they were racier, don't play stupid

The list was already posted in the stuff you quoted. More than half of them weren't even billionaires.

"According to the 2009 Forbes International Billionaire List, Oprah Winfrey with a net worth of $2.7 billion is the richest black person in the world, andwas once the world's only black billionaire. Close behind is Nigeria's Aliko Dangote with $2.5 billion, Nigerian petroleum executive Femi Otedola with$1.6 billion. and South African gold magnate, Patrice Motsepe with $1.3 billion. Dangote and Motsepe are the first black Africans to ever appear on the Forbesinternational rich list, however, Mobutu, the Congolese president, and Sani Abacha, the Nigerian military leader, were probably billionaires when they werealive but Forbes could never confirm this (according to Forbes magazine's Kerry Dolan)."

, First off Hitler...the topic is UPPER CLASS and according to thecensus One Million USD constitutes as "rich" and upper class.
Second while you're running your penis landing strip about naming 5 AFRICAN AMERICAN BILLIONAIRES here:

1.Mohammed Al Amoudi
2. Mo Ibrahim
3.Michael Lee-Chin
4.Femi Otedola
5.Patrice Motsepe

BTW, most of them were in Forbes which is an "accredited source" meaning information was checked and verified by 3 different sources...so don'tbother arguing.
I hate "race politics" on NT because the African Americans on this board never draw first blood but are forced to look like aholes for defendingthemselves.

P.S. notice Oprah wasn't listed
