I'm still not to keen on Chrysler tho, penny how many miles on your dodge?
I had around 60,000 on my sebring and every time I turned around needed something changed.

brought it at 10. 6  miles now at 15.6 ,i dont drive it much but my friend has 2014 300 150k miles brought brand new says no problems at all n his 300 takes regular oil

It's not about use. Something could go wrong at mile 10 or mile 1000. The issue is with cars that old and with high mileage things WILL break on you. 05-07 is the time when most German companies had major redesigns of their vehicles both physically, mechanically and eltronically. They were pretty much test cars. Everything that went wrong was corrected in later iterations of that cars model. For instance Audi released the A4 in the B7 body type from 2005-2008. The 2005/6 models have a ton of issues that were all worked out by the 2008 model. The only way I'd buy a older luxury car is if they have low mileage with a clear title, a price way under market value, or a car fresh off of waranty that was checked and maintenced bumper to bumper before the warranty expired.

If you find a good mechanic that knows BMW's or Benz's very well, and isn't about that price gouging that helps take some of the sting out of your pocket.  But the real wallet buster is copping the parts, and some parts you can only get from the dealer unless you know a solid spot that carriers quality rebuilt or salvaged parts.  But in somewhere like LA you can get away with owing one of these luxury whips without breaking the bank if you know the right people.

I've been reading that most people take a car to get serviced when 1 thing goes wrong and they tell the mechanic don't replace other stuff.

rather then telling the mechanic to go through the car and thoroughly look to see that the car will run properly for a while.

Yup every single one does the exact thing. The beauty of this is the labor ovelaps if you do it all at once and it's a one day job but.... Nobody will go for it so they change one thing at a time which makes it seem like the car breaks alot. I'm talking 1k in parts and one days work. After that you'll get 60k trouble free miles on a car you bought with 70 to 100 k to start with. Like I said every single one has the same issues.

i'll be far away from home, trying to simply have a comfortable space for myself away from home.

Also, it's professional private graduate school, east coast, mba/law school 

image doesn't matter much, but if it gets my foot in the door, it's worth it. 

A lot of my colleagues come from wealth/money. I come from middle class, i'm just trying to stay afloat with them

Learn something about Scotch or wine and save yourself a ton of money if you are concerned with "appearances" while attending whatever institution on the East Coast.

If they know you're from Berkeley, they'll assume you either have a Prius or corn powered go kart anyway.

You guys that have to use synthetic blend for non-luxury cars should buy the 5 gallon jugs of oil + filter at $25 or less at Wal-Mart.

Your dealership should only chrarge around $12 labor to change the oil since you have the supplies.

Walmart sucks for newer cars. I took my car in and they didn't know how to reset the oil indicator. They don't do near as much as Honda does with Honda parts. Only the dealer sees my car. I left walmart and my dash was lit up like a Christmas tree.

I feel what you're saying...

But you'll seriously have trouble for a long while if you jeep this up.

You can cop a solid sports car like a camero or challenger and just say you love that year/model/make...

The richest guys still cop common sports cars... And most folks can't tell the difference between and r/t and a hellcat from just looking at them.

I never use Wal-Mart for service, but they are the best place to buy bulk synthetic oil.
