My neighbor is selling both of his families BMW’s (divorce). 330i for $5000 and 750 for $6000. Which is the better buy? I’ve always owned American cars IDK much about BMW. Any advice is appreciated

Years of the vehicles?

3 series might be cheaper overall but I'm a 7 series fanboy of any model lol even the Bangle butt e65

3 series is 2006, 7 series is 2008. These prices seem too good to pass up bros and they are the only owners.

I’d like to get a rundown on how to maintain and what can cost me to have a BMW

Bet, I’ll keep that in mind while I camp outside your spot if I’m ever hurtin again.

the older gen 7 and 3 series had auto transmission problems but for sure stay away from the 7. cop the 3 even better if its a manual

I have a cousin who has either a 325 or 330.

A sister-in-law who has either a 745 or 750.

While I am clearly not certain as to which exact model each has, what I am certain of is that they both regret their purchases. They have said the maintenance costs did not justify the appeal of having a bimmer.

No problem

Keep in mind the 750 is more spacious though. So if you end up homeless again it'll be more comfortable to sleep in than your Camaro.

Definitely didn't see that ending coming.

Sheesh.

If it's the E65 7 series stay away bruh, stay far away. If it's the E38 7 series I'd say cop IF its the V12 750IL.
330i is cool too but whatever you do don't cop the E65. Make sure Vanos has been replaced on that 330i too mane. Check for BMW service records or service records from a reputable BMW shop before you cop too. I'm speaking from experience, I own a E39 540i :smh: :pimp:

just depends on what kinda CAR GUY you are....

if your buying the car because your really into it and intend to maintain and repair when needed than, do the research on those specific years and talk to people who actually own them, not this ol' cousin's of uncles or my friends friends barber hearsay...

you can take the cars to a BMW dealer and pay for a "pre purchase inspection" for around $100-150. If its your neighbor he should be pretty cool with this.

If the cars have been properly maintained and taken care of hop on the forums and ask some questions. Lock down a independent certified BMW mechanic and enjoy.

granted there are lemons, but cars and their condition are pretty much direct reflections of their owners and how they take care of their stuff in general.

Maintenance on both can/will be pricey. The 7 will obviously be more. Like the other poster said, unless you like to fix cars up yourself I would stay away from either that old. You can lease a brand new one for about two years for around those prices... and not pay any maintenance.

Those year model 7 series are notorious for being the worst BMW ever reliability wise. The whole drivetrain is JUNK. The 3 series on the other hand has proved to be reliable if maintained correctly. I believe they have small issue like water pumps and gasket issues. I wouldn't cop if it has over +80k miles unless I had future plans on upgrading or replacing drivetrain components

Think I’m going with the 3 series. The 330 is nice but I don’t want AWD. The 325i a good daily driver. Thanks for everything bros free reps for everyone!

Like everyone else is saying stay away from that 08 7 series. 01-08 will cost you a lot in repairs. Only get it if you have the money. Car is a head turner.

330 is also more power.

What's the mileage on them?
