WOODBURY, N.J. -- A 6-year-old boy died after his throat was slashed Saturday morning, and his mother is accused of killing him, prosecutors said. Martina Harding, 42, also wounded herself with a knife and was taken to a nearby hospital, according to a press release issued by the Gloucester County prosecutor's office. The attack was reported at 7:30 a.m., the release said. The boy, Jared Harding, died at Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, a short time later.
Other family members -- including the victim's 9-year-old sister and the children's father -- were home at the time, prosecutors said. They were not injured. Charges against Martina Harding are pending, prosecutors said. Her condition was unknown Saturday afternoon.
