Brooklyn man arrested for possession of .... Jolly Ranchers

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to crack down on sugary treats, but this may have gone too far.

One Brooklyn man was arrested by the New York Police Department for possession of Jolly Ranchers candy.

Love Olatunjiojo, 25, bought the candy from the It'Sugar candy store in Coney Island back in June.

The NYPD apparently thought the candy was crystal meth.

The man actually spent a day in jail where he was said to have suffered emotional distress. His lawyer said, "I don't know if these cops have been watching 'Breaking Bad,' but my client is not Walter White."

Two days after his arrest, an NYPD lab found the "rocks" to be Jolly Ranchers. The charges were dismissed in September.
Olatunjiojo is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for emotional distress, false arrest and imprisonment and illegal search and seizure.

For every not guilt person, I have proposed the following recompense schedule:

Arrest: 50k
Arrest in Home: 250k
Full Cavity Search: 100k
Every Hour in Jail: 10k

Every dime would be taken from the pension fund for Law Enforcement officers. I asked my boss to call it the "Tread Lightly" provisions. I know that this bill has a snow ball's chance but I am putting it out there anyway. I am playing the long game.

When I or others like me get power, we will use similar financial intimidation to constrain the paramilitarios, the LEO's, who plague and torment our people every single day.

Our LEO's pay no price for false arrests and lengthy jail confinement imposed on our people, a clear violation of the 6th Amendment to be sure. Taking money from their vast, ill gotten pension-slush funds, might get them to pay attention and actually follow the laws of our state and country.
