Buying your own fireworks: Big waste of money, or biggest waste of money?

Ive been in a major city almost every year. So I usually go see them at whatever the city is known for.

When I was a kid my Godfather and dad would go to tijuana to get lots of fireworks for us kids. Then my dad and his crew would pretty much shut inglewood down. lol. we would have a block party and they would grill and do the whole nine.

For my kids I will probably take them to shows until they get of age to light them off themselves (with supervision of course) then probably do what my dad did. Today im hitting downtown Honolulu. Cant wait :smokin :D

My uncle did his own show at home, had no problems and it was pretty fun to see something like that at home. We had the really loud ones that go up into the air and a bunch of  little small ones we just popped the next day. Also we were in contest with someone else in the neighborhood and won, they couldn't handle us.

What do you mean exactly?
bored teenagers looking for trouble. remember going to the suburban firework shows back in the day and by the end the kids were fighting and destroying stuff. some were throwing glass bottles.

not a family atmosphere at all.

What burbs you visit bro? Lol I've never seen that in the suburbs. That sounds like a white trash element.

i cant get down dropping major money but they are cool to see especially when youre in the yard and your neighbor two blocks away lights up some cool ones that dominate the sky.

it is a waste of money but I feel like jeremy renner in the hurt locker every time I light something up.

one time my friend's dad did a 'Buy $1000 get $1000 free' deal, he still had a lot left over that summer.

Buy one get one deal.. 50% off is still 50% spent.. but to each his own.. i got a homie that spends racks on racks for fireworks.. but he gets em at a deal in exchange for car parts..

waste of money but if you got a ton of extra cash might as well buy some an have fun.

Understood.but when you have a little two year old,I rather buy some sparklers for her instead of being around drunk folks partying and acting a fool. Not all act like that, but I stay away from conflict possibilities when I have my princess. And that TRAFFIC!!! Hope everyone who goes out has a safe and good time though

No doubt. I haven't seen this myself but it doesn't surprise me. I think its less of a suburban thing and more of a localized thing. I went out to a pre show yesterday out in the burbs here and there were mad jits and it was a chill event.

I love threads like this. Some salty as hell nter always gotta create a thread and try to **** on some holiday fun.

I'll admit that spending money on fireworks isn't probably the smartest way to spend money, but sometimes you just gotta have some fun my dude. I go to my boys annual block party and they light the box up like Baghdad. They never purchase their fireworks from those stands if you know what I am saying, so you know the show is always a lot better.

ive seen money blown in a lot worst ways..like buying strangers drinks at the bar

so to each his own

BUT

after Christmas, the 4th was always my favorite holiday as a kid

Guess its the thrill of lighting the fuse, seeing the sparks and not knowing the outcome

i miss the days of driving 30 mins out to indiana to get the good stuff when i spent my summers in chicago.
