So I'm about to start my freshman year of college (Cal Poly SLO), and I'm in calculus (141). I never took calculus in high school, well only pre-cal.Do you think I'm destined for failure? I had a 3.9 in high school, if that matters

do ALL the HW. you'll see it again on the examinations

You're overreacting man.. I didn't even take precalc when I took it during highschool and I was fine.

I just started taking cal. too, teacher barley speaking English FTL

^get used to that with math teachers. Calc isn't that hard. Just do the HW and go to class. It's basically a do-the-work and you're good class.Upper level math is not.

calc isn't too hard, if you can follow the methods it's not too bad. this coming from an engineer tho.
it used to be hard for me in high school but once i took it in college it got easier and it made sense.

But seriously, you'll do fine. Get plenty of practice (HW, study buddies, office hours) and you'll be set.

You should be good. Just look over the material everyday.

I remember I had calc 2 and had to drop it because I didn't review the material.

QFT. didn't understand any of precalc. barely got a B. got a A in calc BC. do the work and you'll be straight.

blah!

NO, dont listen to them. Calculus makes you vomit just looking at it. I dont think its even real.

Im taking pre-calc right know and that &*^* is hard, and I used to like math too.

thats cause precalc isnt the like calc, a little bit but not really, theres algebra thats similar but the completely different part from my memory (hs was along time ago) was trig - triangles triangles triangles
- sin, cosin, tan, arcsin, arccosin, arc tan blah blah blah

calc is simply derivatives and integrals - negative infinity blah blah blah infinity - that was a long time ago for me

Pre-calc is the most ******ed math class I ever took.

They mashed up Geometry, Algebra, a meager fraction of Calculus and a bunch of other #$#@ as a review before you take actual Calc which is far easier sinceyou're focusing mainly on one form of math.

We used calculus twice outta 20+ meetings in pre-calc.

To dude that said pre-calc was hard... %@%^ outta here, that was damn near one of the easiest classes I've taken

Oh and one question, I'm taking calc this year but I'm in high school. Is calc in high school that much different from calc in college? Like difficultywise and stuff?

some people dont like dealing with triangles for trig, its not simple algebra

yeah first year hs calc is the same as college 1st sem and 2nd sem calc, i think its just that derivatives gets a semester and integrals gets a semester, cantremember but i think derivatives is Calc-AB and integrals is Calc-BC
