The thought popped in my head this morning to travel during my time in law school, but I'm curious as to whether I'd be able to secure a job in America when I come back. My guess would be that law school in a country like Canada or England would teach me about their law system, as opposed to American statutes... but I could be wrong. I'd like to practice corporate law, if that matters.

Common sense you'd think... Why would you learn about different law in England/Canada, and try to use it in America. Makes no sense.

I know some dentist from China trying to open a dental business here, but no luck. They have to start all over again to obtain the certificate to become a dentist.

i remember in an immigration thread about 2 years ago a kid said that his parents were doctors in Russia(?) and when they came here they had to do residency all over again

but if OP is going to study law internationally england probably would be the best choice since US law is based on english common-law..

yeah same with my mom.

my uncle was a practicing lawyer in Nigeria, but when he came here he had to earn a J.D .before he was eligible for the bar, along with all the other internationals in his class. i think it takes 2-3 years. imo its not worth it to leave, and then come back and spend another 3 years in school.
