Looking to buy my self a nice camera. Im torn between the
T4i
700

Or

Canon 60D
700

What I want to use for is recording my kids while they play their sports. Would also like to get some nice pics too. I know I need a good lens too but want to know what you experts (who ever owns either one) to shed some light.

I know, most of you are going to say GO TO THE PICTURE THREAD, but those guys dont answer any questions. And that thread is about what nice pics they took.

Thanks for the help.

i have the 60d and prefer it, mostly because it fits in my hands more comfortably.

why canon?

i went with sony instead.

Sony does not hold a candle to Canon in the DSLR department.

Damn I didn't even know there was a T4i. Didn't the T3i drop last year?

Between the two...depends on what you need. If you're going to be doing alot of video I'd say go for the T4i.

Can't go wrong w/ either tho. Just invest in some good glass.

If you ever decide you love photography so much you want to go further, you will realize how limited you are with Sony....I would only recommend Canon or Nikon for anyone interested in venturing into the DSLR market, and as a beginner you can't wrong with either of those canons....doubt you'll notice any difference in performance.

i almost bought a 60D last year... @op: go to like costco or somethin and play around with both cameras, i think you'll agree that the 60D feels much better in your hands.

i have a nikon.. but the 60D is nice

with that said the t3i and the 60D have the same sensor. not sure what sensor the t4i is using. might be newer

People continue to say that the the T4i has the newest processor, does that really matter? The T4i has 5 and the 60d has the 4 (sorry dont know the name just memorized the number).

Cant find a great deal on either one too. The feel of the 60D is great, nice and firm, but the features of the T4i are nice.

yeah i understand that from a professional standpoint since canon and nikon have such a wide array of lenses to choose from but for a consumer/enthusiast sony is great. the thing i love about my sony is the speed at which it can take pictures.

So I've decided to go with Canon 60D. This thing is a monster. The lens I got with it was the 18-135mm. Still looking for something that zooms in more like the 300. So far, this camera takes nice pics..

Anyone know how to set my shutter to go faster? (I know, putting it in the sport function does it for you, but can it be sped up? Can I use it in manual mode)

Same her, Nex5. Great pictures for a great price.
You buy Sony TV's, DVD players, sound systems, car stereos... you don't buy a Sony camera. Especially if you're debating between a Canon or Nikon.

Like someone mentioned previously, you're gonna be very limited when it comes to options with the Sony.

Good choice bro.

You went with the 7 series Bimmer as opposed to the 5.

Between a T4i and a 60D...more like the 3 series over the 1.
