I was in the market recently for a new car but due to some family issues(my dad passed in October) I'm re-thinking buying new and going the used route. I had money saved for down payment but I had to take car of some things on my dad's house and there are still future financial commitments I'm going to handle. With that being said. I'm looking for a decent 4 door to get me from point A to B. Looking to spend under 20k. I was looking around the area and noticed this 07' Cadillac STS for around 17k. Thoughts? Comments? Are these lemons? I really haven't drove a lac before, went from a 03' Buick century to a 05' Murano which I recently gave to my sister. I have 2 cars for trade in too.

Edit:

I peeped the STS-V also..so if I can find one of those I'm prob going to look into that instead of the v6.

Gonna need to know the mileage to give you any comments on that...

Go on autotrader and look at whatever models youre considering to get an idea of what they go for. You could get a deville or grand marquis ls about 4 years old with 40-55k miles for like 12k without a doubt though

Its an 07', 31k miles, clean car fax. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't have the navi system in it.

i wouldn't touch one of those sts'. I'd say look into the newer acura rl, toyota avalon or lexus gs. These cars are definitely better cars for the money and will retain value much much better than the caddy. I've had one of those STS' at my job n the interior is plain and drab..a CTS-V would be a more enticing buy but I dunno how reliable those are. Check out the three cars I recommended tho.

Ok...not looking into the STS anymore. Just found a 09 CTS w/ 34k miles for $22k and an 08 w/ 50kmiles for a little under 20k. Any thoughts/reports on the CTS?

Chrysler/gm though? If you're looking for anything that will get you from point A to B, I'd definitely look into a different car.

Its a Cadillac. Trying to decide between a Maxima and the CTS now. And my first car was an 03 Buick Century...still have it,NEVER had a problem. Most my fam has GM cars or Nissan..No major issues so

I wouldn't buy a Cadillac, Lexus GS 300/430 would be your most reliable option in your price range. For 18-20k you could really find one well maintained with low miles if you search thoroughly.

Reasoning behind not going with the lac? Just trying to get input on reliability. I know the maint. will prob run high but I plan on getting the warranty extended as well.

My boy has a CTS, around 100k his transmission actually had to be replaced as well as the radiator blew. I've never really looked into them that well but just from his experience I would stay away. I wanna say his is an '02
and yeah anything u buy luxury I would get the extended warranty depending on price etc...

I've got an 04 GS 300, bought it at 62k at 93k now and I have loved owning it so far. Had the 90k service done and she runs like a beaut. Everything IMO of course, plus with the GS clublexus.com/forums has really detailed info on repairs, DIY, etc for the GS and all Lexus vehicles. Everyones pretty active in the 2GS forum.
