Sites legit. I think there is definitely a market for this. But its the kind of website that would be successful only if there are a lot of people constantly buying and selling (like ebay). I always thought ebay's business model was smart (minimal expenses, don't have to carry inventory, not having to deal with shipping,and just acting like a middle man). It's also good to see there is multiple revenue streams too aside from listing fees ( like banner ads). My only advice is to create a sense of community since I assume his main competitors are those car forums (e.g. VWvortex.com) that already offer a marketplace for niche markets.
A few questions though:
How long did it take before the site was actually launched? How did he get funding(Angels? Loans?) for the business? Does he have an office with employees? Or is he running it out of his garage or something?
