Probably warped discs - do you know how many miles since they were changed?

You can have them turned if they are still thick enough but most places just replace them.

depends on how you drive it.

my wifes car started to get the shakes after around 30K miles, but i really put a lot of wear on the brakes.  I'm talking multiple trips to Vegas in the dead of summer jamming 90-95MPH down that hill as you head into stateline from CA to NV and then jammin on the breaks as I come up on the traffic pack.

I had em grind the rotors and it fixed the problem.

30K is nothing...I've got 195K and it's still running like a champ.

But don't conclude your search to just brake rotors because mine are warped and only my brake pedals shake, not the steering wheel. Get your other suspension components checked like the ball joints in the front wheels.

Warped means the brake rotors or in some cases the brake pads on your car are not flat. This happens because when you brake the brake pad gets pressed against the rotor and under heavy friction, heat can cause the brakes to warp. You could get resurfaced but once they're warped, the chances of them becoming warped again is likely but nothing too serious.
