Carfax question

Anybody familiar with or use carfax, can you let me know if it's worth the price ?
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews and for the amount of money they asking for which could be a hit or miss is

Yes it is worth it. 50 bucks is nothing compared to the thousands you will be spending on the vehicle.

According to a few unsatisfied customers they could have gotten a report from DMV with the same info.
And I keep reading that it's not even accurate you could get a completely clean record one year and 5 years later after you already brought the car they could report a major collision. 

I'm taking a mechanic with me anyway so I'm kind of on the fence with this.

I have always used carfax since i turned 18 it's literally saved my wallet for thousands I will always use carfax

I think its worth it if you're in the market for a used car. Just keep in mind that it doesn't always show you everything.
