I'm 19 and trying to buy a used car. I know there are a lot of car heads out here and wantes some of y'all opinions on how buying a car works sincethis is my first. I saw a Trailbalzer for like 14K at like less than 40K miles. Can any of y'all gimme any insight on how buying a used car work. Mostdefinitly appreciated

carmax = RIPOFF, its supposed to be premium preowned, but they treat the cars just like any other used car dealer

I bought a used car from Carmax. No hassle and they weren't pushy at all. They offer an extended warranty. I would pick them over most used car sales evensome franchised dealers. That's my experience though. Some people may have had bad experiences.

I only seen this place in FLorida....

is it like a dealership of all sorts, or whats their catch??

OP: Trail Blazers arent too reliable, and that price is kinda steep...(what year we talkin?)

you can find cheaper/better deals at local chains. They aren't supposed to haggle with their prices either

I would never purchase a car from carmax, because their prices are set and they will not go down.
my business teacher said carmax is mainly for women because they aren't typically the type to try to negotiate prices.
but yeah with that said look around before you decide. and what year is it?
I bought well not I but my parents got me an 07 Trailblazer LT back in 08 for 14K had under 20k miles on it and was originally priced at like 20K. so yeahdon't settle at carmax look around first

^ Haggle = negotiate on prices.

I've had friends trade in some beat up cars to that place before... I'd go through the motions that you'd go through with any used car dealer withthem, too.

and they really aren't, mine just decided to take a little break when I was driving.
steering wheel and gas pedal locked up, it decelerated and I couldn't do anything. just turned it off and on again and it worked fine.
took it to the shop and haven't had a problem since, well besides it keeps telling me to check tire pressure but i did and they're fine. it just wontgo away.

lol other than that I love my TB and can't wait till my dad lets me get started working on it

Carmax takes the work out of used car shopping, and you pay a premium for it. You should be able to get a warranty through them, you know the cars have beeninspected, and you should feel trusted with them. However you're paying for it, too much in my opinion.

Autotrader, cars.com, craigslist, are what I would use. It takes more work, have to find the cars yourself, get a carfax, get a mechanic to look it over, etc.But you'll certainly save some money.
