||---Charles Hamilton Dropped from Interscpoe---||

Thought he had some talent but repent of ever thinking so he is lame! I met him at SXSW and he was a complete jerk!

I'm shocked. There's a lot less hate in this thread than I thought there'd be.

Is... is NikeTalk growing up?

I just listened to the whole album. I can see why they shelved it.

It's not a BAD album (I know NT will hate it, but...

), but it's just... so DARK. There was no way they could have marketed that, even ifCharles HADN'T gotten all the bad press in the months prior.

The weirdest thing is, he actually wanted "Barbara Walters," the darkest song of all, to be his first single.

C'mon

Let's look at it like this: had there never been ANY controversy with Charles AT ALL--had he never had any beefs with Rhymefest or Soulja Boy, had he never got punched by a girl, had he never stole that beat, or listed J Dilla as his EP--had NONE of that ever happened, theySTILL couldn't market this album.

Let's list some of the topics this album discusses:
  • His dad beat his mom, and in turn she beat HIM
  • He got strung out on drugs at a very young age
  • He spent a lot of his adolescence in a group home, where he also got beat up
  • He feels like his mother doesn't love him
  • He feels he has no friends or anyone in the world to confide in
  • He cries sometimes because he feels so alone
  • He feels he doesn't fit in or belong anywhere
I mean, come on. They can't do anything with that. It's too depressing. And it has nothing to do with the actual quality of it (because it'sactually pretty decent). And while The Pink Lavalamp definitely dealt with those same themes, at least THAT album had some more upbeat, marketable songs("Sat(t)elite," "Live Life to the Fullest," "Let Me Live," "Brighter Days," "The Cookout").

Damn this is aint no lie, this really dark. You right thiscouldn't be marketed now. Maybe back in the 90s since it was so easy to do for X. This darker or as dark as any Budden Mood Muzik

Did not know that about Crook either. I was wondering where that song would go.....

It's crazy cuz dude is really spitting his life, pouring his heart on the track. Like this aint no Eminem %$*@.

Charles Reminder > Ol Man Jigga's reminder

Easily.

But yeah, this is crazy dark. Kind of music I like, but this +*## ain't getting played on the radio.

Regardless of the fact that he's an uber-cornball, you can't deny that he's very talented. Hope dude bounces back somehow, 'cause some of hisstuff is really good.

The album is mad grizzly, There is no sign of optimism on this
Eggman should just give him his rings back.

Yeah, This Perfect Life runs in stark contrast to The Pink Lavalamp, which, aside from two tracks ("Music [Intro]" and "I'll be Around [Outro]"), was almost ENTIRELY optimistic.

Maybe it's because that one came out in December, and he was still on that Obama high or something.
