Not to make assumptions, but, you referring to The Cherry Blossom Parade maybe?

If so, nice packed event downtown for all to enjoy... Especially in the years past when the weather was nice.

they were gifts from Japan. They line the water front and Tidal Basin...they come out at the end of March early April...when they bloom its a pretty cool thingto see, but they only last for a few days then they turn white then brown then they smell like crap.

LOL damn, people seem to be uptight this morning. I guess I used the wrong word. It just seems that every year people make a big deal out of them. I mean ifthey're just trees, then they don't need to be throwing festivals and parades for them. I'm just saying. Anyway, thanks.

Nobody is being uptight, I just think its plain ignorant and foolish to not have a general understanding of a city you live 10 miles away from and that peoplecome from all corners of the world to visit and see. There is more to DC then knowing the latest rapper from the city who will put "DC on the map."

Trust me, duke. If you knew me, you'd think I was one of the most open-minded people you knew. I already knew all of the things you said. I know theyline the Tidal Basin. I know they're gifts from Japan. I didn't ask for a history lesson, chief. I asked if it was free to go and for people'sexperiences.

And for the record, I'm not from here, so I don't give a damn about this area being put on the map or the most current rapper. Hell, I didn't evenlisten to Wale for the first time until 2 months ago.

Anyway, like I said, thanks for everyone's input... even you VARISOXFAN

You know, it's funny what you said about knowing more about the area in which you live in. I know some people back home in NY that haven't tried manythings in the city because they simply take it for granted. I guess I'm the same way with D.C. I felt that these trees will be around all the time, so Inever went out to go see them.
