Hey I am having a dilemma between two colleges right now.
One's in Boston (Suffolk) and the other is UIC in Chicago.

I was just wondering if you guys could help me out.
Is UIC a good place?
I've heard some bad things, some weird things, and some nice things

Any help or information would be nice please, thanks in advance

i walked through their campus last week. it's seemed pretty diverse, which is always good.

umm, if you go south of the campus at all, it's not a good area at all, same goes for west of hyde park...so idk how much leeway you have there

He's probably referring to the University of Chicago which is in Hyde Park but is surrounded by the hood... but that's a completelydifferent school. You have to go much further south or much further west to get to the hood and Hyde Park is nowhere near UIC. The UIC area is very safe asfar as Chicago neighborhoods go.

As for UIC, it is pretty diverse as far as colleges go (which ain't sayin much but still). I know this may seem strange to say but UIC's architecturesucks- the buildings are just... terrible man. This might not be important to you (I didn't think it would be to me either) but I'm a grad student atUIC right now and it really bothers me for some strange reason...

both cities are good college towns. I'm from Chicago but I have family in Bean town. So I'm unbiased. Boston has better colleges and a good nightlifescene. But Chicago nightlife in the summer>>>>everything else.

my bad...i was confusing it.

Im going to Chicago to tour some schools, I have a couple of questions.

1. Where is a good area to book the hotel.
2. Is it easy to get around in public transportation.
3. Good places to eat and visit.
4. How much do you think i will spend a day like on food, transportation, and touring.

Is it true that the south side is more of a peoples place, so to say.
Lastly, for now I think im going to greyhound it over there, dont really wanna drop 300+ plus hotel, for mainly school touring, unless someone can hook it up.
I will be happy with hound coupons also dont really mind the ride as i will have company.

Thanks
