LOL at the guy bringing up a Chinatown

I dont like when politicians use military and defame each other to gain the upper hand, If you are willing to talk mess about the others that run office in State or Country ! Why should I trust that person!

Good video, looks like some Americans are finally beginning to understand.

This is exactly why with all the trillions we spend on cutting edge weaponry we haven't even been able to defeat the Taliban after over a decade of fighting; and we never will. Time to admit defeat and leave.

Every American should see the above vid.

Damn I was hoping for a Science Channel CGI sort of thing where they showed like The Chinese pulling up on the shores of San Diego or something.

We're so quick to support invading "terrorist" countries...ever stop to think we might be the actual terrorists?

We have military bases all over the world, imagine how we'd feel if china put even ONE in our country...

The hypocrisy embedded in our western civilization is mind boggling at times...
strong post.

So what are we talking about here? Are we talking about the wars we're fighting or the military bases we have in other countries? They are two VASTLY different things. I'm fairly certain our troops aren't running around Italy breaking and entering. This primarily happens in war zones, like Iraq and Afghanistan. The video is 100% correct when it implies that we are more than likely the biggest reason people in these countries take up arms against us, but it is a bit misleading.
Also, keeping these bases open is hardly what is bankrupting America.

"According to Rumsfeld’s estimates, we could save at least $12 billion by closing 200 to 300 bases " Link

Out of context, that sounds like a pretty fair amount of money, but when you realize that defense spending came close to $700 billion dollars in 2010 it isn't much, at ALL.

However Ron Paul's economic plan would CERTAINLY have negative affects on the economy straight away. His ideas are similar to the austerity measures that have been used in Europe recently, only significantly more drastic. This is a good article on it, if anyone even cares to see what electing Paul might do to the country, and your future.

Key word, 'Imagine'

Don't get brainwashed people... o wait, too late

Ron Paul fans are the most kool-aid sipping people out there.

For every one reasonable thing he says, there are like 4 things that make you wish he'd never see the light of day again.
Oh, and Ron Paul won't close those bases either. Don't fool yourselves.

Not saying I want them closed one way or another...but most of you all have NO idea what it takes for you all to live in this relative degree of comfort.

I tend to be liberal but I try to be realistic as well. Keep thinking that being able push people around doesn't improve your lives.

Closing military bases and ending the wars in order to pay for Social Security and Medicare could destabilize these programs? What kind of math is he using? Almost $2 trillion was spent on the wars alone, not counting the billions it costs to maintain the military bases across the world, and on top of it cutting Military spending. And stopping these can destabilize these programs?

This government generates enough revenue to pay for these programs, the problem is they spend too much money.

Your way of life is DIRECTLY related to the US's ability to throw its weight around. Its true and you know it.
You can say this all you want, but I'm pretty sure when it starts to hit the fan probably 9/10 people would resist changing their lifestyle in a way that reflects a lack of our influence on the rest of the world.

People are too comfortable.

very interesting opinions and comments.

how do you Ron paul supports feel about his point of view opposed to you Non-Ron Paul supporters?

It doesn't happen over night, and nobody has implied that it would. If Ron Paul was elected, he wouldn't end Social Security and Medicare and he's consistently stated this. Anyone over 25+ would still receive benefits.

So in 10 years the US has spent a little over $2 trillion on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. It does sound like a lot until you realize that we've spent around that same amount on Medicare/Medicaid and SS in as little as 2 years. But the wars and the wars alone are whats bankrupting this country...

You're right. The government was already trillions in debt, but what has the wars accomplished? Are we "freer"? Are we "safer" now more than we were before 9/11? And if the answer is "yes" what is the proof of this? Because the FBI "foiled" 43 plots and 42 of which were financially supported and planned out by the FBI alone?

The wars didn't bankrupt this country, but it did/does contribute to this country's inflation problem. The trillions of dollars used for mercenaries to occupy Muslim countries could have been saved.

Saw this yesterday. Is a pretty good video. I actually agree with some or Ron Paul's points, but then he has some that are out in left field.
