I thought him playing with Paul was going to be HUGE.  But it hasn't panned out.

Paul talk, Wall talk, Rose talk, Rondo been mentioned once or twice, and the one that slides under the radar, Deron.  (on here at least)  Even Nas ain't bring him up yet, and I know he got his finger on the trigger lookin like Banderas up in the tower in Assassins.

As i've said in other threads, you can't have Paul be the best PG in the game, and then 20 games later, change your mind.  That's stupid.  Paul and Deron are 1 and 1A in whichever order you feel.  Then you have Rose, Westbrook and Rondo playing insane basketball this year, but they haven't done it as long as CP3 and D-Will have.  It takes time to "be the best" so to speak".

Arguing like this over a shortened period of time is a lot like seeing a player go for 30 and 30 in a game, and saying "RIGHT NOW, HE IS THEE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA, BAR NONE!!"

Looks foolish don't it?

Counting 20-30-35 games is equally foolish.

Rose and his peers do this for 2-3 years straight, then they can be elevated a few notches, IF Paul and Williams aren't matching their production as we've all come to expect.  Will Rose and Wall at some point surpass them?  Sure, it could happen.  Has it happened the first 3 months of this season?  NO.
But see, this it the problem we're having CP. I don't believe anyone is saying Rose's career > Chris Paul or Deron's career.
That's not what people are saying ... we're saying RIGHT NOW, Rose is playing better ball.

As a whole, yes, career wise, Kobe > Lebron ... but RIGHT NOW, Lebron is playing better ball than Kobe.

I think people in this thread are getting so caught up in what CP3 has done for YEARS, instead of looking at the present ...

I'm not saying career either, what I'm saying is you can't go back and forth on a damn daily basis.

What if CP3 goes 20 the next 3 games?  What, is he back in the lead now?

What if Ray Felton goes 30-20 and 9 boards for a week, he the best PG in the game?

That got nothin to do with careers, that's RIGHT NOW as you say.  Don't change a God damn thing tho do it?

This isn't a horse race where they back and forth in front of each other after every single game.

You mentioned Bron Kobe, funny you did that, I been on record for years Kobe was the better player, I wasn't suddenly going to change it over a stretch of games while Bron watches Kobe play from his living room on vacation summer after summer.  My point to that is, why change my opinion based on a stretch of games (say, Bron is now better) then switch it back when Kobe is out there doing big things on the big stage?
Chris Paul is the better player in my book, I'm not going to change my opinion when Rondo plays on the big stage in the finals.

You'll notice I give the edge to one guy still playing, but not the one other.  Why?  Because a stretch of great games isn't going to adjust my opinion, which is what is happening now.  A WHOLE BUNCH of people (media, NT, people you know, etc etc) were sayin Bron is the best, Bron is the best, and then 2 weeks later were jumping on Kobe is the best, Kobe is the best.  Stupid.  Why change?  Pick and opinion, and go with it.  It's not gonna change over the course of a 10 game stretch, or 20 games, or 50 games.

Can you say D-Rose is having a better season then Chris Paul?  Yes.  Does that make him the better player?  No.  Of all fans, Rose fans should know this.  Rose was hurt last year, and by the end of the year, he was fantastic.  Should we all have dropped him from the upper echelon of PG's when he wasn't right?  No, right?
What's to say that Paul isn't totally healthy right now, his team isn't completely up to snuff, and then next year they add a couple guys, his knee is now 2 years removed from a severe injury, and Boom, 23, 12, 5 with 3 steals, 48%, 40%, 90%, just like that.  Paul is now "the best PG in the game again?"

That's not how it goes.  A guy can have a better season during a run, that don't make him a better player.  Kevin Johnson was havin better years then Magic, gonna call Kevin the better PG?  I sure hope not.
laugh.gif

It takes time to earn that right to be called best of _____.  Whatever it might be.  Go to ANY sport.  Joey Votto a better hitter then Albert Puols after one big year?  Mike Vick better then Peyton Manning, after one great year?

That's how I view things.  If someone disagrees, ok, everyone has their own ideas, but that's where I come from.  Don't switch up day after day livin in the moment of each game.

Gilbert??
Yeah ... I'm no longer replying to you.
You? Out of all people think you can stop replying to people?

I didn't say Gil was anything amazing this season, but West, Okafor, and Ariza are not much better than Blatche, McGee, and Lewis/Gil/Hinrich, if at all. Point blank period. You obviously missed the point if the only thing you took from that was "Gilbert??"...

Okafor was looked at as overrated big man with limited offensive ability. Ariza turned into a 3 pt. chucking fool since he left the Lakers. And yet you say Paul is surrounded with decent players while Wall is surrounded by trash. LOL. CP3 is surrounded by trash, Wall's trash has tons of potential in Blatche and McGee. Difference is CP3 has his team going to the playoffs in the west. There's a reason for that. You can't just look at numbers and think it's all the same thing.

15PPG, 9APG ... compared to Paul's 16PPG & 9APG.

Once again, you guys are going on Paul's reputation, not what he's putting up.

Wall is playing with a bunch of meh players, and Paul has decent players around him.
 Good lord...

Bro ... I said I'm not replying to you because YOU DON'T EVEN REALIZE THAT GILBERT DOESN'T EVEN $!+%*@% PLAY FOR THE WIZARDS ANYMORE.

How are you going to have a discussion when you clearly don't even know that he's been gone?

He's the exact same dude he was in LA... Just playing too many minutes and being counted on to do too much. He's not an NBA starter. He's an awesome role player/energy off the bench type dude.

YES! I've completely missed part of the biggest trade this year! Of course! Of course I didn't realize Gilbert got traded! No... I put Gilbert in there because he played with Wall during the course of the season. I even put Rashard Lewis in that "Lewis/Gil/Hinrich" example. Common sense please use it...

I agree with this post. I told my friends the same thing earlier.

....theres no way you looked @ John Wall's stats before you compared him to CP3
laugh.gif

Wall turns it over almost 4 times a game...shoots 30 pct from three...is barely shooting 40% otherwise...and is an entire 10 percentage points under CP3 @ the free throw line

.....you pulled that comparison out of your %%!

None of those matter. The fact that the two are identical in points and assists automatically make them equally as good.

Kev/Julian, you guys watch more full Hornets games than I do, does CP3 look tired in the 4th nowadays and defer a lot of shots. I got some tapes from a friend and he wanted to know what I thought and I saw someone on ESPN mention it but I haven't really gotten a chance to really sit down and check it out.

It's nothing different than ever before, really. He defers when it's beneficial, and he takes over when he has to (recently, see the ends of the Memphis and Houston games).

I get you. Friend made it seem more like he was passing up open shots and not driving in the 4th wearing down.
