Cleaning Suede/Nubuck J's???

I was told to use a toothbrush and the nubuck cleaner from any local shoe retailer but I'm affraid it'll &*^% up the material. What should Iuse? Also what should I use to clean the funky material on the Raging Bull 3m's?

a toothbrush is very similar to a suede brush it wont mess up the nubuck
