Because foreign fans would like to follow a figure. Besides Yao has done wonders in terms of expanding the NBA to China already.
It's not even that. He has first hand knowledge about the Indian market, so he would be a good liaison in that sense. It's not so much Indian fans will be like 'hey, he's one of us. Let's support his team' as much as him being able to use his connections over there to generate interest in the game and (hopefully) his team.

Also, the difference with Ichiro and baseball or Yao/China, hell even Prokhorov/Nets/Russia, is that India is literally an untapped BASKETBALL market. Basketball/baseball already had a developing market in Japan/China/Russia, as evident by the prominent domestic leagues that had been established decades before any of the influx of foreign names came to America (NPB, CBA, and PBL).

They just 2 years ago had their first live televised NBA game (which Vivek pushed :p). When Yao/Ichiro/Prokhorov got here, their native countries already had been exposed to basketball/baseball and had a taste of those sports and thus didn't have the same type of explosive response I think the NBA in India will.

Now if only we can make American football into an international game 8o 8o 8o

If they really want the strong connection they should move the team to Vancouver...

Don't sweat it, everyone's welcome here!

I just try to keep the more pro-Sacramento stuff in here rather than intrude on the Seatteite party going on in the other thread

all Garcia wants in his life, is to get the rock in the corner/FT line extended every trip down the floor and launch a 3

I mean arguments could be made for both. But I'd go GP>Mitch.

Definitely don't blame ya if you go the other way tho

Oh come on, nobody can legitimately argue Mitch over GP, unless all you value is scoring and nothing else. Gary Payton put up a 24/6.5/9 season in his prime. When was Mitch ever doing that?

Not to mention one of the greatest defensive PGs of all time

I'm not here to argue Rock > Glove and vice versa because it's hard to compare two different players at two different positions. All I'll say is that Mitch Richmond was the 1st 2nd and 3rd options on a Kings team that never finished over .500 during his tenure and never averaged less than 16ppg until his final year where he barely played.

In his best year he put up 25.9ppg / 3.9reb / 4.2apg / 1.46spg and was all NBA 2nd Team

Taking my mama to the Kings game tonight :)

Here we stay!!! So hopefully I can keep taking her to games, concerts, icecapades, etc!!!

And so my kids, and his kids, can have a place where events can be held, and hopefully be a Kings fan as well ;)

Tonight was a fun game, it was cool to see my mom get into the game

That last play though

Thornton really trying to exploit the switch of a pick and roll by shooting a contested jumper of a 7 footer? Ok Marcus
grin.gif

Best way to always expose the p&r switch is to blow by the big the switches out on to the ball handler......

Before that play, Cousins! You are a physical beast. Quit tip toeing your way around the paint thinking you're Tyreke. Power thru the defender, not finesse your way around him

I got tickets for the next 2 games. Should be good times. And they aren't gonna be our last games in Sacramento either

Non issue. Although I'm sure certain people will try to use that as leverage to allow the Hansen sale.

If Thornton is going to have the ball in his hands with the clock winding down and he's going for the win, why run a pick and roll? Just ISO and get out of the way.

our friends in the great Northwest have already attempted to make it an issue. But whatev. I just don't understand why they keep looking to find holes and discuss the deal we have in place

why not just celebrate what they have going on? A signed, legally binding agreement for the murder of professional sports in Sacramento Kings. Seriously, anytime I visit their site, I usually always see an article or write-up on whats wrong with Sacramento. Have we done it? Yes of course, but at this juncture in both processes I think its a little petty and futile, especially when they are in the position they are in right now.

If I was in their place, whats going on here in Sac would be the least of my worries to be honest

I don't know if that play was meant for Thornton to iso, looked like he was just supposed to come off a few screens and then launch a 3 but the play broke down when Gasol switched out.

If it was an iso play, I'd rather see the ball in Young Zeke or Tyreke's hands.

Some more minor news
As @tonybizjak reports, Ron Burkle won't be part of Kings ownership group in Sacto because of involvement in Relativity Sports agency.

I'm told it does nothing to diminish strength of the pitch, I'm told, and says something that NBA went to great lengths to resolve conflict.
