Spags could be the Buddy Ryan of this generation. Good to see him stick around, as it appears he will.

Thank the football gods.

But it's sad to say, Spags is definitely a short-term DC with us. He's definitely going to be a head coach someday.

Best case scenario, Coughlin and the Giants put a succession plan in place and he comes in after 2-3 years, but I seriously doubt he'd stay around thatlong.

I think everyone figured it was a long shot to get Spags as the HC in DC....Fassell is a stop-gap for a year until Cowher comes back in 09'...

If I were him, I wouldn't have wanted to take that job anyways. He's not in a situation where he's desperate for a HC gig like a Wade Phillips or aJim Fassell. There's no way I'd take my first HC gig with an organization that has hired both my coordinators and most of my assistants before I evenstep in the office for my interview.

well they are gonna name him the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator. so hopefully he will be the coach when TC leaves

From Spags' agent, Bob LaMonte, in an e-mail moments ago:

"Spags is staying with the Giants."

Much more to come

Great news....maybe Strahan would stick around another season if this holds true.

Thank God...hopefully we get some corners this offseason to make our defense THAT much better...

That's a good look for the G-Men.

From the way the analysts were talking about him, it was as if all he had to do was show up to DC and he'd basically have the job handed to him.
