If you take the sat on May 4 and that's when the scores are due then that won't work. It takes weeks to get the scores back.

I remember taking it like 3 times before I graduated.

I do college recruiting for my company and I do work with Admissions but admittedly much less than in the past but I might able to provide some value. I am certain others will too but we need a lot more context.

1. First and foremost, what year are you in high school?
2. Is it scholarship offered directly from a university or is it a scholarship offer via a third party, organization, etc.
3. In order to properly assist you, we will need you to be honest with this one - what type of student are you? I understand how one may be averse to sharing a GPA online with strangers but at least be as detailed as possible.
4. Have you taken the PSAT? If so, the same caveat from Question 3 pertains here to your score.
5. The relevance of this is tied to Questions 1 and 2 but if you are a Senior, do you have any offers or have you given an acceptance yet?

sooperhooper and Nawzlew are correct, it takes roughly three weeks to get your scores back so I’m not sure you will be able to make the deadline.


I’ll also just add, I wouldn’t say “Only 1200”. The fact that it’s above average. A 1200 is 75% percentile while 1080 is closer to 50% which is a HUGE statistical difference. Anyway, we can start with these questions and you can add any other pertinent details you may have originally missed.

I hope he gets the scholarship as well and I concur cramming will be necessary but I fear he faces dire logistical issues. Once we know we care it’ll be possible to develop a more comprehensive strategy. Perhaps he could wager an extension.

When was this? Recently? Was it a Liberal Arts College (no offense, I just remember when I applied awhile back they preferred it)

Nope, state uni for a stem program.

Obv this was hella years ago but if I remember right...

I should have clarified, my assumption was ignorantly based on East Coast schools so that makes sense. So then where would like a Stanford fall?

What is the fundamental difference between the two? I can’t remember because the folks I’ve worked with put more weight on the SAT so I focus on that.

I think the ACT has more emphasis on English/writing. I took it and got the exact equivalent to my SAT score. Did pretty good but still wish I would've studied for either test

It's been a while but if I recall most if not all of the test goes up to like 8th grade level material. The emphasis is on speed and accuracy because you lose points for wrong answers, but not if you leave it blank.

Act/sat is regional. Reason people take both is if they’re open to schooling across the country

They change the scoring for the SAT so much I don’t even know what a good score is. When I took it the scoring was completely different but that was over 10 years ago

So was I (joined in middle school) but with the age of social media and forums being pretty much dead, it surprised me.
