College Dorms... ftl?

Ok, so Im thinking about goin to University of Florida among others when i graduate and I just saw what the dorms look like in their honors college:

Im thinking that is not a lot of space. Where am I gonna put my shoes?????? Im not tryna leave 30 pairs with my parents, I wanted to take my stuff with me. Buttheres also gonna be 3 others with access to all my business. How do I know there aint gonna be some grimy cat taking all my stuff? I mean its not like I canlock my things up or anything. It prob wont be too bad seeing as how Id be in honors, but I dont like having to trust random people.

oh and the closet and shower (it just meshes with the floor, at least put a little elevation to keep the dam water in) are pretty ridiculous too

mine was much smaller than that for me and my roomate we didnt have the boxes for our shoes and we had about 50 pairs between us and we just threw all of themon the ground of our closet... and that is much bigger than ours was plus you have your own bathroom... but get the beds lofted it creates a lot more room

honestly, i got sick of it.
its fun at first but after a month, you get sick. theres always beef and drama amongst the hallmates and stuff.
but i say go for it and find something at ikea for your shoes.

oh and Canadian Universities dorm>alot of US' dorms.

hey man, im graduating from uf this may. uf dorms are notorious form being "dungeon" like. i think they ranked in the top 5 among universities

although i've never lived in one, ive been in a few to kick it with some friends and it's definitely a place that doesn't fit me. you'll havepeople coming in and out of your dorm room like it's nothing, so you might want to keep your valuables where you know they'll be safe.

some will say, "do it for the college experience!!!!!" but my response: nah, i'd rather live comfortable. however, it is a good way to meetpeople since you'll essentially always be on campus.

Seriously. If you don't dorm your first year you're messing up your own experience. I would only recommend dorming for a year though.

if you want a walk in closet for all your outfits and shoes, get your own place son.

I had more space then that in my dorm, buy atleast you have your own bathroom with a shower, as a freshman. community bathrooms ftl

Damn, i just peeped the link and your dorm %@+%@ on mine. You have a sink and shower IN YOUR ROOM. Your room is almost twice as big as the dorm rooms at myschool.

Im not spoiled, when I was lil my family was dirt poor, as in not able to afford lunch poor, and eating raw oats with water for breakfast poor, and now wereliving comfortable. I am by no means spoiled, although I guess I might have sounded that way, no hard feelings.

Im not demanding a walk in closet, just a dam lock.

And apparently, my parents are forcing me to live in a dorm for the first year, which is bull, I could prob find some rundown house for the same price. I dontcare about the whole college experience thing. I just wanna get my degrees and keep it moving.

And Im really not looking forward to all the drama and BS, I never get involved in that stuff, Im just lowkey and chill with everybody. But with my luck, Illeither get stuck with someone uptight who hates "black" music and all that or someone whos only there to drink and party while mom and dad pay theirbills.

Do any of yall got links to pics of your rooms or anythign, and minah86 where do you stay at? (no stalker)

telling oyu right now from personal experience: keep the sneaks at home. my roommate would always "borrow" my gear and his foot smelled like a deadcat

I just saw this. Four people to a bathroom would have been awesome. OP, try sharing one bathroom with a whole damn floor.

HAHAwow. that dorm is 20x better than mine.
i have a bathroom that I share with 20 other guys. it gets really disgusting.

anyway, dorming for me was good for 1 1/2 quarters, now it's just whatever. i'm just waiting for this quarter to end so i can move into my apartment,but you should definitely dorm for the experience + to make friends. i'm renting an apartment with 3 other guys from my hall whom i all know pretty wellbecause of living here with them.

Freshman year dorms were awesome minus some people being mad dirty and messing up public bathrooms. But there was always something to do freshman year,everyone had their doors open and people were always hanging out in the halls kicking soccer balls or throwing footballs. I kinda miss the dorm life even tho Ilive in a sweet on campus appartment now. It just isn't the same now I just kick it with my good freinds, but I miss the random kids on my floor waking meup at 2am to come watch drunk kids duke it out in common areas or ordering food with like 6 other kids to minimize the hit you took on delivery charge.

30 pairs is going to be a lot but try and bring like 20 at first and store them under your bed. Its all about trust, hope your roomate is a scum bag anddon't let it known your shoes are worth money or else your asking for your collection to get stollen.

exactly, that's better than most of the dorms at my school.

and leave your shoes, it's not a fashion show in college.

You're really not, he's gonna see the shoes and think you're metro but that's about it.
