college life?

well im just about done with high school and graduate in may.

pickin acollege has been tough for me since my moms wont let me dorm or go anywhere far. so that cancels out any UC and my only choice might have to be junior collegethen transfer out to somewhere else.

since most of yall in this forum arecollege folks, all i hear is people talkin about how college is the best years of your life blah blah. but my question is, will attending a junior collegebefore going out to a UC still be able to live that "college life" that everyone speaks of? or is it just one of those, its how you live your life...im from so cal inland empire btw... just throw your thoughts in!

college is what you make of it.

it could be, actually, mostly likely be the best years of your life. the first year or two is very important. you could dorm and make life long friends. or goto a junior college then transfer into a senior college. but it very hard to accommodate in the college since people who have been going there have been withthe same people for 2 years already. it sucks transferring as a sophomore, junior, or senior. if you have a college STICK TO IT.

college is amazing. you could still enjoy it even if you dont drink or smoke, but of course would be even more crazy if you do!

oh yea stick with your academics, dont get sucked into the partying. dorming life is cool, a little reality with some responsibility.

Is she paying for your school or something? If not, then I would say whatever to her and go to the school YOU feel is best. Going to a juco/community collegeisnt a bad thing, you will be able to live a proper college experience if you actively seek it (Which goes for living on campus too). You'll probably savea lot of money too in the process. But whatever you do do it for you and no one else. Sit down w/ your mom and find out the reasons why she wants you to stayhome. If it's reasons that soothe her explain that you have to live your life for you, and that this is all a part of growing up. Promise to visit when youcan (and actually do it lol). But be an adult about the situation and you may find that you can go to he school you want.

Columbia. And I was scared to live in New York.

Besides, I was only going to get a full ride if I chose to go to Columbia for Engineering. I would have alreadykilled myself if Engineering was my major.

Also, theres a bunch of other variables. Rugby, cost of living, and age came into play. I wouldn't have beenable to do anything extracurricular at Columbia until Dec. 13.

Yes. You'll have friends left in your town with you, and you can go out to whatever college your friends are at quite a bit. AND you save a grip of money.The only downside is that your parents may try to treat you like you're still in high school.

i live in rancho cucamonga. UCR and UCI are the closest and thats waaay to far to commute. cost of dorm is waay too much and my mom cant affordsince she has to pay for my sister too. even going to a calstate is too far since gas and driving would be a pain in the %!#

I regret not going to Columbia, since it could have made my life, but I enjoy UST. Its pretty much like high school was for me, though. Only the cops don'tshow up to parties as often, and I'm actually getting less vag than senior year. (Having a popular girlfriend ftl.) But other than that, it's meh. Ihaven't really been able to enjoy all that adult life has to offer with the whole being 17 thing.

As for the OP, just get a scholarship to the place that you want to go. If you can't do that, then you deserve to have your mother control you.
