College Questions

Okay, so I'm a junior in high school. I'm starting to receive letters and e-mails from colleges like Seton Hall, Miami University,William & Mary, Brown, etc. These letters are only about college surveys and summer college courses.

My question:

Are these schools actually interested in me, or is this just some sort of spam mail for them to try to advertise their school to me?

Does your guidance counselor office offer college services for anyone other than seniors? They could probably help you out.

Did you take the PSAT or SAT? Then they might have gotten your contact info from there.

Funny story. In 2003, my boy applied to Harvard. His GPA was around a 2.0. Someone from the admissions office called his house laughing asking if he was serious. He said yes, they continued to laugh at him for 2 minutes before hanging up on him. he was heated. To answer your question though...it's advertisement. You have to go through the application process.

If you don't apply, the less the admissions office is needed. Plus, they want their numbers to look good (lower acceptance, higher test scores average, demographics possibly). I remember the first time I got a letter from Harvard. I thought I was doing it

i call ducktales on this one.  sounds like a prank someone would do.  the admin office doesn't have time to do that.  they'd rather take your app. fee and keep it moving.

word.. I can only imagine the amount of people that apply hoping they get lucky or that the admissions dept. feels bad..
