What's wrong with Gruden? He's a pretty likeable guy and to say he knows his football would be an understatement. I don't mind hearing him do games.

Sadly it's too late to change. Society now is conditioned to these blowhards screaming and not shutting up over the game action.
Personally what I wouldn't mind is these stations actually changing up the voices once in awhile. Unfortunately if you make the top FOX/CBS/etc broadcast teams for the NFL and NCAA you almost have a job for life.
Brent Musberger, Chris Berman, Joe Buck, Jim Nantz, etc - no matter if they screw up, or get old, or get stale.....they are up there every single game, every year, for generation after generation. Mix it up.

I still don't get why some hate Dilfer and Colinsworth. They really know football and Trent gives football minds a lot of insight into the game. He breaks it down and I love it.

you gotta realize that while we know exactly what's going on and we can spot things because we've watched sports for so long, the average fan has no clue about some of the intricacies of the game.

there's a couple commentators that i really enjoy listening to... they can be a good addition to the broadcast adding quality info throughout the game.
other times though... some can be unbearable :x
