I think you should go a size down too if you're planning on buying the Gap V-Necks...
I'm usually a S but I grabbed an XS just in case. Tried the XS first and it fit perfectly - not to snug and not too loose..

Try Sonoma life+style. They fit me alright. Plus for $8 a shirt, you can't really go wrong.
