Hi, well I am currently at a junior college (Cerritos College-Norwalk, Ca) and I need some perspectives of what are some good classes to take that will helpfor my major. Right now have a few in mind but I need you
(computer animation majors/graduate) to help with suggestions on what classes that will help me with my major.

Current that I am thinking of taking(Some are online classes also)(Some classes are related to Computer but not animation)
-3D Computer Animation
-Photoshop/Digital Imaging
-Java Programming(Online)
-PC Operating System

Depends what area of Computer Animation/Graphics you want to go in and where you plan on going after the JC. I went to a jc myself, took some basic ged classesand those transferred as credit to the AAU where I got my bachelors. I would take some intro computer classes to get your feet wet and see which area you wantto focus on. All of those classes you mentioned sound good as far as starting out.

To be perfectly honest with you though, this industry is all about who you know and your demo reel. Even if you dont know anyone you can still get by on yourdemo reel alone, granted it's an awesome reel. With that being said it's not impossible to get a nice computer, teach yourself, make connects someplaceelse, and pocket a ton of money you would spend at a college. Just my 2 cents.

I don't really know what classed to take off hand but I know animators have to take a lot of drawing classes and bone structure and muscle classes. Mybuddy just graduated from the Academy of Art and he would tell me classes that he took and it was always that kind of stuff like learning how to draw hands andwhat not.

Also if you haven't get chummy with the art students and get your hands on all the programs for free if you can. Get CS4 and since you are ananimator....MAYA.
