Computer Heads Come In, I Need Help...

Ok so here is the problem. Somebody I know has a Dell Mini laptop and unfortunately has a very very small hard drive, not even big enough to install anantivirus program. After getting a virus and having to reinstall everything they went ahead and bought McAfee to somehow install on the computer so itwouldn't happen again, but like I said it won't fit. So my question is, is it possible to install an antivirus program that opens and runs at startuponto a flash drive or is there such a thing as a wireless external hard drive? Obviously if it was a flash drive it'd have to be connected at all time inorder for it to run properly, especially when booting up. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

why not just replace the laptop hard drive? upgrades are mad cheap son...real easy to do, also. Just get any standard 2.5' laptop hard drive and throw itin.

It's an 8GB SSD. I looked up the price for larger SSDs and the 32GB is about 120 bucks..You didn't answer any of my question though..

dell minis came with like 4gig SSDs in some cases, they're small.

A wireless harddrive is a server. Best to upgrade your SSD on newegg or get an external like they said.

However, it should be possible to run programs off a flash drive since it's basically acting as a second drive. I would just say get the new drive, theymake it easy to change out, the bottom panel should just be a couple of screws and the drive should pop out. Probably a lot of youtube videos on it.

Best bet is to get a new drive

not a ssd..a sata external

Oh yeah I know i'd be able to replace it, I've replaced plenty in the past, I just didn't really think about it since the flash and externals arecheaper.

stick a 4GB Flash drive in... Install the AV on that.. and report BACK!

If your using a dell mini with a SSD then u should be using ubuntu but I heard avast does what you want

kill system restore, turn the recycle bin to 0%, and take off hibernation..that should free up about a gig

why not just buy a normal HD and swap out the solid state? Pretty sure it still uses sata to connect. Or you can do what MMN said and delete the restorepartition, but it won't give you that much more space.

You could boot Linux off a flash drive and run a scan from there, or you could do like MMN said and get an eternal SATA drive for storage. That's probablythe best way to do it. Just use the SSD for the OS and lite programs for now, and external for storage until you can upgrade the SSD.
